Congratulations to whispa, who sent in the correct answer!
I am having Jenny post the solution with a picture of the prize, so watch for that post.
I'm now looking forward to the Masquerade Tribute hunt, just a few weeks away.
Thank you all for playing and taking the time to research my hunts. I hope you had fun with this!

I only have the one prize, but if you would still like bragging rights, I'm accepting answers until the solution is posted and I will announce your name :-)

Thank you Jenny for posting the solution!
This hunt came about a little backwards. I usually find an interesting story then looks for a prize that links to the story. But this time I was at a local store and saw the key chain with an old Maine license plate and the number 7855 on it.
I wondered if I could find a good piece of history that involved both Maine and the number 7855. I bought the key chain and headed to my computer to see if I could find a story to go with it. I was amazed to find this photo, item number 7855, on the Maine Memory network about the Spanish-American War, the USS Maine and the fact that the prisoners were sent to a prison camp in Maine. Serendipity!
Thank you all for playing and I hope you are getting ready for the Masquerade Tribute hunt, just a few weeks away now. Clear off the table, stock up on paper and pencils, sharpen your cipher skills, and get any chores out of the way, because you'll need space and lots of time to work on these nine hunts! Jenny and Beth have been offering some great riddles, prizes and random drawings, so be sure to get in on the fun!

Congrats! I ran out of time to try this one, but it looks like fun! What was the exact solution you were looking to be submitted? The name of the photo?

Congrats! I ran out of time to try this one, but it looks like fun! What was the exact solution you were looking to be submitted? The name of the photo? Yes, a photo titled "Departure of Spanish Prisoners of War, 1898"
It is item #7855 on the website, Maine Memory Network.
