The solution to A Treasure’s Trove armchair treasure hunt required the use of a Polybius Square. (for explanation of that hunt go here: A Treasure’s Trove – or for specifically the cipher go here: Codes and Ciphers: Polybius Square) Clue #3 seems like it could be solved by something similar to the Polybius Square. It seems likely the flowers shown beside the Grid provide the information in which to pinpoint letters within the Grid- spelling out a message. The box is 10×10. It’s been thought it could be 4 – 5×5 Grids. The flowers along the side would have to provide info for which grid, and then two other bits of info for which column and row. It is interesting each stem side could be seen to hold leaves 1-5. The amount of Petals goes from 0-9, and we might have to deal with colors of those too. There are 5 different colors of Petals: RED, ORANGE, PURPLE, BLUE, YELLOW. Then, as mentioned, there are the amount of LEAVES. There are 100 letters in the Grid, with all letters of the alphabet being present at least once. With the 19 pairs of flowers on the side, it’s possible any message of 19 letter/ or 38 letters (if each stem acts alone) is hidden. The petals might indicate which 5×5 to use. It’s possible, like those images asking ‘how many triangles’, how many 5×5’s are there in the Grid above. That could be KEY and what the petals do?  Who will find the hidden message? |

I have the book and I don't recognize this "clue" at all. Was there something going on at the website back in the day? How many clues and of what sort were being released at the time? If this was "clue 3" were they related as a set? It's strange how long ago this was!

Bill, the best way to really see the solutions for this one, is to buy the solutions book on either ebay or Amazon. Its a good keepsake to see some good creativity with Polybius.

The solution to Clue #3 is NOT in that book...... that's why it is unsolved yet today and for this thread. The answer has never been published or discovered. |

I have the ATT book and the ATT solutions book. Thanks for the reminder. I see that extra Clues 1 and 2 are discussed there, but clues 4 and 5.1-5.4 are not. I was just wondering if there was some place online that also describes those later clues too.

For those who watched the video, Randy also says that the solutions to Secrets of the Alchemist Dar (the ATT sequel) are still unknown. They've actually been known for quite a while now and were documented on a bunch of online threads. Do you know if there's a detailed writeup of the solutions for the Crystal Pook and Rusful/Black Diamond ATT tokens anywhere (like the writeup for the 12 tokens in the ATT Official Solution Book)? |

For what it's worth, I think I may have solved Clue 4 for ATT. The following thread hinted at a path to a solution but apparently never followed through on it (or maybe they solved it and didn't want to reveal the solution?). tweleve.org/web-clues-cont/19591-idea-clue-4-a.htmlTaking parts of these findings, I tried decoding Clue 4 using the following method: . Read left to right from 1-18 on the X axis at the bottom . For each X value, find the Y value of the corresponding flower. This Y value corresponds to the LINE OF THE ATT POEM (!). . For each flower, count the number of petals. This corresponds to the WORD on that line of the ATT poem. So for example, X=1 -> Y=3 with 4 petals -> Poem line 3, word 4 = YOU X=2 -> Y=4 with 7 petals -> Poem line 4, word 7 = SEEK Continuing in this way, the clue decodes to the following message: YOU SEEK SECRET NOT DISTURBED. INSIDE THE TEXT REVEALS WHERE HIDDEN TOKEN BE. A CODE FOR THE SANCTUARY. Sounds like a readable clue, though not super helpful (much as Clue 1 and Clue 2 were not super helpful either)! I haven't found anywhere online that completely describes this decoding method or solution for this clue. Unlike Clue 3 (which was released in June 2005 when the main ATT hunt was very active), CLue 4 was released on 9/17/05, the same day as a press release announcing the existence of the 14th Token: Rusful/ Black Diamond. So presumably this clue was related to that solve. Details on that solve are hard to come by. An archived press release from ATT says that the solve for the 14th token REQUIRED the web clues AND the book, and the Starz web clues (called 5.1-5.4 on the archived atreasurestrove site) seem to have vanished from the web. If anybody can dig them up, let me know! Thoughts? Is anybody out there? Anybody else notice the first column spells 'ADVENTURER'? Yeah, that's been commented on a lot in the old tweleve threads about Clue 3. Also, the 5th column seems to be an anagram of TREASURE SP (could be a coincidence). There are a LOT of different things that folks have tried: word search, word path through the letters, using the flower petals and stem leaves in various ways to index into the grid, etc. The frequency analysis of the grid is also very similar to normal English (slightly lower in Ts and Hs), making it possible that the grid is just a scrambled up message.
