An egg hunt is strong reference to Easter.
The years mentioned are 1923, 1945, and 1956. Common among those is that Easter fell on April 1st.
Note the mention of the "year of the firsts". The next chapter also mentions a "day of firsts" and the big picture is obtained by aligning the .firsts
I believe there is a lot in this chapter. I'll add more in a later post.
Who is Jack???

I think Jack is the first presidential pardoned Turkey by Abe Lincoln. If I remember correctly, the theme for that easter egg hunt was "firsts". Plus its hard to deny the WPs infatuation with Lincoln and slavery.

I also like the thought that Jack refers to JFK and his image on the penny (which is a 'first'). The penny has a 'secondary miniature rendition of Jack opposite the egg's primary painting'. The primary painting be of Lincoln. Here's one of those one cents: (the year 63 mentioned in the Full Moon (1863) might connect to the year JFK was killed (1963).

Interesting.
My first thought was Jack as in jack-o-lantern mushrooms, which are often mistaken for the chanterelles mentioned in Black Heart Cherry.
Another possibility is that the theme of the 13th egg was Ernest Hemingway, who's first son's name was Jack.
Addition: If we were to assume the above is correct and that Ernest Hemingway was a theme on the egg, this would strengthen the link between Egg Hunt and Grandfather's Office:
Hemingway and his son Jack on the 13th egg. Grandfather's book 'Hunting and Fishing with Ernie" could be reference to Ernest Hemingway - a known hunter and fisherman. (** As a side note - this would then link those Chapters to Full Moon because Hemingway died on July 2nd).
Grandfather's calendar is marked with the gold fish as a religious symbol. As per my other thread, this is likely Orthodox Easter Monday of May 4th, 1964. The Egg Hunt alludes to Easter because the dates given, 1923, 1945, and 1956 share in common that Easter fell on April 1st.
Grandfather has the book "Successful Orienteering". This likely feeds back to Egg Hunt where the pursuit needs to find their way throughout the hills to find the eggs and return to start.
In short, Egg Hunt and Grandfathers office are linked by Hemingway, Easter, and Orienteering.
Egg Hunt is also linked to The Bow by mention of "firsts" as noted above.
Egg Hunt is possibly linked to Full Moon via reference to July 2nd (Hemingway death / second day of Gettysburg).

Easter on April 1:
1923 1934 1945 1956
Each is 11 years apart.
Page 11 is missing from the book. (1934 is missing from the chapter)

I think this chapter at least partly alludes to card playing, probably gambling such as poker tournament.
13 eggs are the 13 cards of each suit. All possess a corresponding number (or rank). Commissioned by royalty = jack queen king.
Great American paintings, state flowers, famous personalities, and world championship baseball team represent the four suits. Baseball one is diamonds.
13th egg consideted most valuable = ace.
I have pieced together Duck's overall "story", but no idea how to find a key.
