Available on AmazonOne hundred pages - need to be ordered correctly. Out of the millions of combinations, can you discover the correct order? The puzzle is said to be extremely difficult, and although first published in 1934 in The Torquemada Puzzle Book, only 3 puzzlers have even been able to solve it. A reader has to reorder the pages, solve the mysteries, and reveal the murderers..... As the front cover says it is 'A Novel Problem'....

I ordered this to add a copy to my collection. I doubt I would ever consider putting in enough effort to solve this, but I really love that something this challenging exists!

My suspicion is my daughters bought this for me for Mother's Day in which case I'm bringing it on my cruise because I'm guessing no internet is required? Question for anyone who's worked this Should I bring scissors, tape, scratch paper?

My suspicion is my daughters bought this for me for Mother's Day in which case I'm bringing it on my cruise because I'm guessing no internet is required? Question for anyone who's worked this Should I bring scissors, tape, scratch paper? Tough question. I cut all my pages out so I could rearrange them as needed. You can jot down notes at the bottom of each page and it is printed only on one side, so the back is blank as well. As far as the internet, there are a lot - a lot - of obscure literary references, some of which carry from one page to another. If you don't have access to the internet, it's hard to find the quotes an who said/ wrote them.
After all that, you have to remember this was written back in the 1930's, so there was no internet to use for research. My suspicion is that there is a cipher and the literary references are diversions and not the way the book is solved.
Besides being a poet, the author was a "pioneer of advanced cryptic crosswords." In 2020 an English writer - who also makes cryptic crosswords, solved the book. This makes me think the "cryptic crossword" part might be more important than all the literary references.
