I only contend that it was near the shore.. And yes they were not involved but would have no way of knowing where he burried the box. That location has been washed away.

Interesting that they are so certain. Do they know this for a fact or are they saying even if it’s there nobody’s ever retrieving the casque?

They have had people ask to search and are not permitting that.. This is to discourage anyone from trying. I made a BOTG search in January this year and 20 feet of pathway near the shore has been washed away. The gate shown on the floor under the plumbob is gone... Only the columns remain (but they are also deteriorating). Unfortunately the box has been lost to mother nature.. She has it now !!!

BTW north/south/east/west could be substituted with up/down/back/out. So look north could mean look "up" and you'll see a wing-shaped sign.

If you are referring to the columns as a goal like structure.. In 1982 it was whole.. And was still in great shape in 2013.. The gate that was between them is the wings in the floor under the plumbing. All you need to do is move the rightside of the fence to the left it then clearly gives you that same wing image... So yes this is where I !maintain it was burried.. But now washed away

Not to bore you with a long-winded explanation, here's a brief rant: Line 1 and 2: Start from Wright Brothers' Memorial "Ride the man of Oz", Tin man in painting represents a plane. So ride/fly the plane to Roanoke Island (Line 4). Line 5 to 9: These 5 lines are meant to get us to a "road" that leads to commonly thought the Elizabethan Gardens or Waterside Theater. This "road" would be the Thomas Hariot Trail. However I believe this is a misdirection. The actual road is the Harriot St. This street leads to Driftwood Rd. and eventually to Westcott Park. Lions Club sign is the 1st thing you see entering the park area. "In July and August" is Leo. "Under that" refers to under the sign. "Last touched"; last means at the end of. So at the end of the sign is the post. Also a goalie is the last person that may touch the ball in soccer before score. Dig to achieve goal; dig inside the post similar to soccer, inside the posts to count as goal. Note: you may have to probe 4 to 5 feet down since that planter box around the sign may've been added later on.
