I am working on an armchair treasure hunt that would be a fundraiser for a local non-profit. I imagine I need to talk to a lawyer to factor in state law and such, but I'm not sure what type of lawyer I'd actually reach out to.
Anyone have an advice on how to get that piece started effectively? Maybe resources already exist? If I missed something obvious in this forum, I apologize.
Thanks, Chris

Hi Chris, I'm a lawyer in Tampa FL. As a city popular with start ups, we have a number of "incubator" and "accelerator" programs which are concentrated resources to help with business plans and funding. We also have a Small Business Resource Center which is part of www sbdc.org. many attorneys volunteer their time and provide complimentary consults and review of legal forms. My suggestion is to ask your local college business department if they have similar programs in your city. You can also find good legal templates on sites like Rocketlawyer.com, but it is important to have an attorney in your state review any legal forms before you use them. To answer your question the type of attorney you are seeking is a general business law attorney who has experience in not-for-profit organization. Hope this info helps Samantha
