No winner as of checking this morning. As a community I can tell y'all are close to understanding the full puzzle to the final specific answer/location.

Oh no! That’s a bit disappointing, but I get it. I’m still stuck on the cipher text key and cipher. I feel like I’m missing something. But, I appreciate all of your hunts, retro! They’ve given me a great side project the past few months!

@retro
It's gone quiet in here. Is this puzzle less to do with scouring maps and more to do with piecing the clues together?

I am so lost at the key for the play fair cipher. I feel like I figured out how to find the key and then get stuck again. I was hoping for a clue related to that but it looks like I’m just going to lose my mind on it lol.

Feels like it might be nearing time for a sharing session here on the forum

A small hint, retro? Can't you give a smaller hint? 🤪

Sky, clouds, beach, sea, galleon, rocks, headstone, footprints, fishing reel, Chester...
Must be something in there to help. 🤔

I'm not opposed to sharing on the forum. I'm pretty sure I've got the cipher down, but there's something in there that I just can't figure out what it means. Is anyone else having that problem? Also, do you guys think it's possible that the picture contains another cipher, like maybe Morse code or Braille?

I see four distinct lines in the cipher. Interpreting them is another story. Not sure about Morse or Braille but think I'm missing something in the picture. Those waves are pretty big, and unless some image manipulation has been going on around that area, we're witnessing a tsunami.
And looks like something man-made atop that left rock formation.

Ok, retro said he might give a stronger hint in the coming days. Just to make that time more fun and let people catch up:
Movie reference, The Goonies, Astoria etc.
"My presence is captured on canvas of fame, An experience of light across seasons and weather, A key undetected, revelatory is my name."
A famous series of paintings.
That gives you the 'key', in French.
Understanding the deciphered stanza is where, I believe, a lot of us are failing.

Sorry. My boss was in town this week. I've been super busy. I think a lot of us have figured out the cipher. Try using the first letter of the first word of in 1st line, the second letter of the second letter of 2nd line and so on... I can also see how a tsunami is possible. However, several places in that area are prone to tsunamis. I'm struggling with REXEL. I can't figure that out for the life of me.

ig0psychoThe "Nobody, nothin?" wasn't directed at you, ig0psycho. Just a bit of sillyness with little sharing going on. X's are used in the Playfair cipher to separate double letters, and to pad it to an even number of letters. You just need to remove them. It's "reel". I'll check out the acrostic thing. Thanks!

ig0psychoYour instructions are bizarre, not quite right, but got there anyway. Already had that by other means but didn't know it was there. I wonder how many other things I missed in previous puzzles... Thanks again!
