Pete finished the book in Sept 2015. Now, did he hide the object well before finishing the book, to be sure the spot was correct , by the book? I know around my home things have changed in 2 years, access areas to beach's have been blocked by homeowners in the area, parking lots have changed And sign markers have been removed. The point I am getting to is the treasure area(s) may not be accessible as they once were. When do you think he hid the treasure?

I'll add a twist to this -
Why does the intro (preface) in the book talk about the suling lying hidden for 200 to 500 million years?

There is more to it than that.

I was wondering along those lines, but hadn't checked the eras yet (thanks). Though, I am in the camp that wants to use mostly only information in the book, so the specialized knowledge of Paleozoic might be supplemental but not necessary.
Working with just the information in those lines, is there anything (e.g., like taking 350 million years and connection it to something?)
By the way, was it you who mentioned that there was a poem in the front of the book connected to Mozart's Magic Flute? I couldn't find it.
GB, any hint on "there's more to it than that?"

That was me. I'm having trouble remembering the reference but I'll report back when I find it. But there is a reference to Peter Pan in that text as well.... "mythical land between the sun and the moon, the place between asleep and awake where you can still remember dreaming"

The "mythical land between the sun and the moon" and "hailing the triumph of courage, virtue, and wisdom" both come directly from Mozart's opera The Magic Flute.

Thanks, guys. Neat reference, a suling lies hidden, and phrases from The Magic Flute.
Haven't forgotten toppop's original question - was the answer to when it was hidden (whatever "it" is) alluded to in the lengthy Skype interview with mdc777?

He doesn't say when he hid it (or possible other treasures for hunts 2 and 3) . Would you finish the book first or try and hid it first, to be sure it went the way you expected it to go. LOL, for example, how many of of our searches ever go as expected?

Why would the suling lie hidden for 200 to 500 million years? Is there some type of hint (e.g., in the wording), other than geological confirmation?
The very specific area I am looking at has rocks from Devonian era (so might fit the timeframe), and possibly other timespan (haven't looked into it any further).
quarry note: quarries expose rocks from the various era. A quarry is the thing you are hunting for, and / or a place rocks are taken from.
"any other day he might go by Mitchell" - he might drive by Mitchell, Indiana. With "this old town" (non-new Orleans) quarry nearby. Georgia, Buddha (the frog statue), and Rabbittville nearby.
Very weak solve, way too much info in the book. There are many many solves like this. Not one of the strong solves.
