In case you had not noticed in your searches, the Wizard of OZ references.....look at the COUNTY NAME where Hot Springs Arkansas is located. It is GARLAND county, as in JUDY GARLAND....
Sorry, I see you already mentioned that.

I Dont think anyone should giveaway their solves. Because they are quitting or otherwise.. Other searchers may be on your same train of thought and feel like you just gave away their hard work.
Now, with 3 hunts built into the book, you just gave away hunt 1, 2 or 3.

Hi All -- the BT&B message traffic has slowed to a crawl, so I was going to reveal something I put together from one of the pages of the book. However, I hesitate to share because of some of the comments above; someone else could have figured this out and has kept it close to the vest (because it's so good), and if so I wouldn't want to raise their ire by just blurting it out. Let me say this: if it is a clue, I really don't think it's for Hunt #1 because there aren't enough other clues for the same city. I suspect that it's for a future hunt that Pete has put hooks in for.
Revealing the city would probably be harmless because it's been mentioned before -- just not nearly as often as New Orleans. Or alternatively, I could reveal the chapter that contains the hint and see if anyone chimes in to say, "NO! Don't give that clue out!" (LOL). I will say that the clue is extremely specific: it is for a landmark within a city. Any consensus on how I should proceed?

Maybe mention the chapter and see if anyone chimes in.

Agreed, I would give the chapter first, then if there are no objections, you can get more specific such as page number, and then give the landmark or city.

zaphod, I believe that I have a landmark as well. I'm am not going to be that specific, because I believe a lot falls into place with the landmark.

Well, There is a difference between dumping out clue after clue and talking about one clue and possible connections. Just list what's is the book that you feel means something, but you don't have to give out the something, ask if others have ideas about that topic or word. You know the difference.

The forum is a great place to discuss ideas and theories. I don't mind anyone discussing something they found, or putting "feelers" out there to see if anyone else has come up with the same ideas or results. If the discussion centers around one subject or clue, I don't see much of an issue with that, as there are no confirmers to go with it, unless you have been doing your homework, and recognize it as something important. Otherwise, it just appears as something random.
I do find it rude that someone who decides to give up and quit the hunt, just dumps their ENTIRE, detailed solve out there for everyone to see. I know there are people who have worked hard to uncover things, and to have someone else go public with what they have discovered just doesn't seem fair. It also gives their solve to lurkers who really aren't part of the community and contribute nothing.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I'm going to dip my toe by giving the chapter first to see if that gets anyone nervous. It's Chapter 21.

I was working with the Ch 21 acrostic, including the cardinals. Moved it off the high priority list.
I also made notes on walnuts, duck duck goose, and worked with "the four elements".
Another note related to dancing pixies, and Peter+Ruth.

No one has named it yet (and you lost me on the cardinals, Astree?), so I'll narrow it down to the page number: 135.

I can understand how some of you think it's rude that I posted some of my better stuff...but then again, coming from Fenn's hunt where people post their solve all the time, I didn't think it was a big deal. I was just trying to help.
Sorry if I stepped on anyone's toes.

thetictocman: I didn't have a problem with what you posted, but perhaps I'd have felt differently if I was a fan of Hot Springs, AR being the spot. ;-)

Btw, one poster has already contacted me privately with the correct answer, so given that we solved it independently of one another, it's a safe bet that it's an intentional clue from Pete and not just some crazy coincidence.
