Zaphod and razorback, I disagree. I have found numerous hints/clues to Hot Springs. And if this ISN'T one of the solves in the book (and I think it is the MAIN solve), then Pete is playing a very cruel trick on us.
I agree with you razorback, that there are more than 15 clues to New York and New Orleans. But I think New Orleans is too obvious, and is most likely a red herring.
Astree is also correct, with multiple locations, it is difficult to differentiate which hunt/clues goes with which location. Pete said there are ways to be able to differentiate these, but I have not been able to figure this out.

Zaphod, I am still thinking about what you found on page 135 that you feel is a clue to a city. Let me ask this, is the city New York?

Is it possible that past and present tense helps distinguish clues? For instance, the Russian wrestler story and the Wine Tennis story is in the past and not a real part of the hunt. IDK.

GeneticBlend: it is more than just a clue to a city. It is a clue to a specific landmark in a specific city.

Is it a landmark in Central Park?

On the subject of page 135..the line beginning with Snickers..the word "the" does not fit. Is this a clue or a misprint?

I think it is a misprint. But I guess you can never be too sure.

Funny -- I've read that page a dozen times and never notice that! I'm sure it's just a typo. I guess it's worth checking the Kindle version, but since the hardcover and Kindle probably derive from the same digital source, the error is probably in both.

The extra 'the' is in the Kindle version.

Which hunt? Maybe the anagrams before getting to their treasure and after are a sign of the current hunt, since we can't find anagrams for any of the other clued cities that we agree are there.

I noticed that the paragraph following the Polar Race paragraph had the word "for" 4 times. And, it was the 4th word in each sentence.
" 1 2 3 for... We did it for...for...for good taste"
444
From the poem “in darkness lips curl over “
in “d ARK NE ss”, North East Arkansas
In northeast Arkansas is HINDS ville.
Hindsville contains a “Centennial Park” (recalling the Bicentennial Tree in the story).
Hindsville has a route 444.

GeneticBlend: you were making good progress on page 135... did you get any closer? Are you using Polar or N.Z. ?
