I'm making my last trip for this hunt this weekend (with the caveat that could change if I ever figure out an answer for Et..whatever that I like)... Let the chips fall where they may. Also, though I completely disagree with the logic and reasoning behind it, with apologies to my partners, and to my kids' future college fund for leaving money on the table that could have been theirs, if I do somehow miraculously end up being correct and also finding it this weekend, out of respect to GeneticBlend and to put good juju into the world, I will let everyone know next week (with the caveat that I contact pb, learn the fine print, and I'm allowed to do that).

Minotaur: hardiest wishes for success! I would love someone to put this hunt in the "done" column. But you don't like my "Et..." solution? It's a nice fit with my city, and I don't even question that it's correct. Complete, 16-letter anagrams with relevance are hard to ignore.

Hahaha, zaphod73491, as much as you are dug in with your solve, unfortunately, I'm dug in that it is a playfair cypher. And that means we both are likely wrong, IMO.

Be careful requiring that the clues are likeable. IMHO Pete has put some weak clues together, and I think some of you will be very disappointed when it's all said and done.
The Greedy Warehouse Man is one of them. I am completely happy with my dumb solve/connection for it.

I simply was sick of spinning my wheels on the Forrest Fenn hunt, knew this would be over by 2017, and wanted to see how close I was to the right solution to see if I need to be even be in this space or should just move on to something else.

Yes, i spent a month in the Rockys 3 years ago, met Forrest at his home, burned out on it, I heard this might be in N.O. close to me, so I tried it.

Toppop: IMHO, if you are close to the Big Easy, you are close to where Pete hid the item. It's just not in NO.

Minotaur: I'm not at ALL dug in with my spot because all I've got is a city. Would be more than happy being talked out of my city, but so far the other candidates I've heard (AR, NO, NYC, Louisville, and Michigan!?!) suck by comparison. Even knowing the 100% solid NYC connection, I think it's a red fish, or a clue for puzzle #2 or 3.

I've spent waaay more time trying to figure out the f treasure, have much better solves for it and I have yet to pull the trigger and actually take my first trip. What I've learned from this hunt is it is better to partner up than try alone. If I didn't, much like the f search, I still wouldn't have made my first search. I can definitely say I've learned that.

How did it go?

The problem with the August 9th 10% bump is that anyone who fails to turn up the object in a BOTG effort cannot be sure their solution was wrong. It's easier to swallow the possibility that someone got there ahead of you than to accept that your solution was flawed. The same psychology affects some Fenn searchers: when they don't find the treasure at the spot they're sure it must be, they claim someone beat them to it -- or worse, that the treasure never existed.

More to come, unfortunately, wasn't able to find it.
