I'll be pulling for you Linda! It drives me crazy how hard it's been for you to get permission with all the clues screaming Aquatic/Maritime Park, meanwhile people can turn Golden Gate Park into swiss cheese based on nothing... Oh and I'd like for you to tell a certain guy from France to honk on it while holding the real casque
Maybe hold this over their heads Linda: "To the extent feasible historic materials that would ordinarily be demolished should be reused in the new design For example the historic granite retaining wall with acorn finials at Aquatic Park could be incorporated into the new MUNI platform design in this location"
That is from the 2012 Final Environmental Impact Statement for Extension of F Line Streetcar Service to Fort Mason Center. It would be pretty bad that NPS would allow the acorn wall to be decimated for a MUNI platform, but deny you digging...give me a break!

response from San Fran NPS..they hold the key, literally..
Linda,
I appreciate your persistence but I am following regulation. This is not a choice I am making. Digging for treasure is not an allowable recreation activity, especially in a National Historic Landmark District.
I think this matter is confused because San Francisco City has allowed some supervised digging in Golden Gate Park. We are a federal organization and a National Historic Landmark District which is very different.

I should say it's amazing that you could get 4 hours of supervised probing done. That's unheard of. You must've bewitched the ranger! I hope this process doesn't cause any problem for the ranger.

i have 3 choices, 1st if i was native american i could dig, 2nd if i was an archaeologist, i could dig. 3rd the governor can grant one permission to dig.. so thats what i did this morning i wrote to the Gov and told him of my situation, and if i could get others to write in my behalf, Choice, we may be able to get this box out of the ground. but i have not given up yet.. i do know an archaeologist but not in cali. so if you all have a few minutes write Gavin Newsome, he was SF mayor and i know he has a heart for this city. thanks everyone
