Just some general thoughts and observations since the new clues have come out for hunt #9 A funny little dream. Some similarities between the state seal of Kansas and the painting for #9 hunt. Notice the stars in the sky in the state seal...similar to the starry night in painting. Notice the mountain range in the seal and the mountain range in painting. Notice the sun peaking over the range to the upper east...and notice the sun in the painting with the E.T. bike rider. Notice in the state seal how the landacape slants slightly down to one side...and notice in the painting...how it slants down to one side. Also notice the chimney in the seal looks similar to how the tree is in the painting. The state motto at the top of the seal reads "To the stars through difficulties". It would seem to me that the state seal of Kansas is a major influence in the design of the painting for hunt #9. What are your thoughts about this? So where do we start to look in Kansas if this is so? Hmm...maybe. I'm not so inclined to think that the mountains reflect the seal because if you look at the Van Gogh painting, she copied it exactly. And the tree is also in the painting but she changed it to look like the tree they actually hid him behind.
But...maybe they chose Starry Night in the first place because of the similarities such as the stars in the seal.
Hmm...

If Kansas indeed...Aurora? Or perhaps down along the 42? Or the ONE? Perhaps the tree branches designate the other map--one of roads....

Its been a while since I've posted anything on the Masqurade Tribute Hunt #9 "A Funny Little Dream". Our new theory is that this has something to do with the "Louis and Clark Expedition". President Thomas Jefferson commissioned the expedition shortly after the "Louisiana Purchase" in 1803 to explore and to map the newly acquired territory, to find a practical route across the western half of the continent. (ONE PATH). We believe GNOME may REST somewhere along this path. The state of Missouri is our focus but L & C expidition went through Mis-SOUR-i, Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota. We are keeping some info private but wanted to share our direction 🔎🤠So off we go hunting along the Louis and Clark Trail!

I was convinced sour confirmed Cherry Creek State Park in Denver.

Deidra Has Received The Following Email From A Very Panicked Galavant The Gnome:
Deidra... HELP! I'm stuck next to some rotting tree trunk underneath a starry night!
I think there's a trail nearby because I can sometimes hear families passing me in the distance.
I'm pretty sure that my last purchase was in Louisiana but I don't think I'm very close to LA anymore.
Please send somebody to retrieve me!
Thanks,
Galavant The Gnome

Funny, I could see the trail in the background on the video. Didn't help me though! I also spent a lot of time trying to figure out what that silver line was sticking out from behind the tree. I finally decided that it was a tripod, like maybe Deidra wanted to use a tripod to video the hiding but then it was too high so she lay it down behind the tree and just put her phone on a rock or something.

It appears that Galavant has been rescued though it seems he may not have been found by a treasure hunter but by a person exploring the area he was hidden at.
The only correspondence we've received from the finder is an email that said they had found a gnome with dog tags around his foot with a code on it and they provided the correct code.
We're waiting to get more details because it may have been a treasure hunter and they left that part out of the email. If it was one of you, please let us know! Hopefully we'll have more details on that soon.
If it's confirmed that the gnome finder isn't a treasure hunter "A Funny Little Dream" will become an armchair treasure hunt (minus the cash prize, a cash reward will be given to the finder because, as you can see (image in the Facebook group), the dog tag says so) with new hints provided and we'll accept submissions for the solution over email.
Please don't send in your ideas yet, we'll give further instructions as soon as we know more about the people that found Galavant.

Galavant was indeed found by someone that was not looking for him. The person did not solve the puzzle that leads to his whereabouts.
The finder told us via email: "I was just exploring the woods when I found it."
The finder doesn't know about our treasure hunt and we're going to keep it that way so that we can continue "A Funny Little Dream" as an armchair treasure hunt and we'll accept solutions via email at GalavantTheGnome@gmail.com (he may email you a hint to where he was found if you email him now! 😉 ).
We're sorry if this lessens the experience for you but it'll make the hunt more accessible to everyone since you will not have to travel to find Galavant.
The prizes for finding the spot Galavant was hidden at will be:
A first American edition of Masquerade signed by Kit Williams
A beautiful aquamarine gemstone
A full size replica of Galavant The Gnome (or Galavant himself if the finder decides to send him back to us)
And... as the last winner of the of the Masquerade Tribute Treasure Hunts for Charity you'll receive the "Lily of the Valley": a stunning necklace and earrings set made by Eleyne Williams (Kit Williams wife) donated by Jennifer Rao
We'll accept solutions at GalavantTheGnome@gmail.com that give us the correct CITY/STATE and a spot on a map within 500 feet of where Galavant was hidden and a general explanation on how the clues got you there. Please limit your solution submissions to one per day.
Thanks for your understanding and for your continued efforts to solve "A Funny Little Dream". <3

Question: Did the accidental finder get the entire cash prize of $500?

I had asked Dustin that exact thing months ago, anticipating this scenario. At the time he said the finder would get a token finders fee, but now...don't know if he's honoring that or not.
