How do we know whether the number 666 is the true core of the MARANATHA puzzle, or in truth just another Clue pointing to the actual true core of the problematic puzzle?

Scene 5 depicts two coiling, spiralling snakes. In Scene 5, both the under-snake and the over-snake are coiling in a clock-wise direction.

The number 9 is written by the hand moving in an anti-clock-wise direction, and the number 6 is written by the hand moving in an anti-clock-wise direction.

If the snakes had been depicted as coiling anti-clock-wise, the two spirals caused by the coiling would have resembles a number 6 and a number 9.

The coiling of the snakes suggests something being turned upside-down, and then right-way-up. If you turn the number 9 upside-down, it looks like the number 6.

The coils of the snakes in Scene 5 could have been used to suggest a six and a nine. Or number nines becoming number sixes, either by a number 6 being rotated up-side-down to a number 9, and then rotated again right-side-up, that is, corrected, to re-appear as a number 6, which would hint at a repeating six, or a nine being turned into six by being turned up-side-down. Yet the snakes coil clock-wise, which means that the creator of Scene 5 wanted to avoid any unintended association with the numbers six or nine, even though Scene 5 was a great opportunity for a clue to a repeating number six.

Scene 5 is ANTI-six, in that it depicts the snakes as coiling clock-wise, to prevent any association of the snakes' spiral coil with the number 6, and it is also ANTE-six, in that, in the order of the Scenes, it is before Scene 6, that is, it is ANTE to Scene 6.

The PDF's Formula states that the number 666 is the solution to the book's puzzle, yet Scene 5, a Scene that could have easily, or accidentally, resulted in a reference to a repeating number six, avoids that opportunity, or accident.

The book-cover for 'The Da Vinci Code' novel looks like it was an inspiration for the colour branding and the torn-strip effect of the cover of the MARANATHA book.
Is the MARANATHA book really about Rennes-le-Chateau, or did a Freemason browse the content in the 'The Da Vinci Code' novel, and think "I'll have some of that"?
'The Da Vinci Code' novel came out in 2003, and the movie adaptation of the novel came out in 2006. The MARANATHA book came out in 2005, bang in the middle.

Is the MARANATHA book and the hunt just a product skinned in a DVC-style branding with DVC-style content, produced to capture part of the lucrative Da Vinci Code market?

'The Da Vinci Code' novel even mentions the number 666 in relation to the number of glass-panes used to construct the Louvre Pyramid.

The British documentary 'The Real Da Vinci Code with Tony Robinson', was first broadcast in England on Channel 4 on the 3rd of February, 2005.

In this documentary, Mr. T. Robinson travels to King's College London, to meet with members of 'The Research Institute in Systematic Theology',
which, as stated by Mr. Robinson, is presented in 'The Da Vinci Code' novel as having the "biggest electronic search databases in the world, and the hero uses it to help him track down the Grail".
Mr. Robinson meets with Professor OLIVER DAVIES, only to be told by the professor that 'The Research Institute in Systematic Theology' is

So... In early February in 2005, a documentary about the content in 'The Da Vinci Code' novel was broadcast on British television. The documentary focused on THE Holy Grail. In the documentary, a 'research institute' is mentioned, which is, according to one of its own members, just a 'group of people', a 'think-tank', discussing Theology. Systematically.
Or a 'research group', perhaps?

The definition for the word 'systematic' is that which is 'done or acting according to a fixed plan or system; methodical'.

Mr. Prize states that the MARANATHA Research Group employed a, well, I would say, METHODICAL, three-step academic process when it did its historical research. This three-step process involved a review of the 'Cultural Historical Evidence', followed by a review of the 'Physical Historical Evidence', followed by a process of confirming the results of the previous two steps through a third process referred to as the wink-wink 'Cross-Reference'. Using this three-step process, the Research Group created, nay, FORGED, according to the article, a data-base.

In the televised documentary, the Institute's 'reading list' is not shown on-screen. But, before leaving the 'Institute', Mr. Robinson is shown taking specific books from book-shelves in the College. These books should be, sensibly, the books on the 'reading list'. From the titles seen on the books that are shown, the subject matter of some of the books taken from the shelves, is the Holy Grail.

This documentary makes it plain that the institute referred to in 'The Da Vinci Code' novel, is not a fictional creation. 'The Research Institute in Systematic Theology' is a real, but informal, group of academics who do have an interest in the Holy Grail. Did this documentary provide the inspiration for the MARANATHA hunt narrative that a real-life research group with an interest in the Holy Grail was responsible for the MARANATHA book? Is it the 'Research Group' of the MARANATHA narrative that is in truth, a novel fiction?

The original TDVC webquest or challenge was released in 2003, on the website of the novel's author, Dan Brown, as part of a promotional campaign. The webquest involved the solving of cryptic clues found on the publisher's website. Readers were required to use the clues to search the Internet to learn the answers to certain questions to complete the quest and win the prize, a paid first-class round-trip by passenger-jet to Paris.
Some of the webquest questions referred to content in the novel.
When the reader starts the webquest at the website, the reader is asked the question

Part of the webquest required readers to discover a KEY, that is, the key for a cipher, in order to read a message written on yellow parchment. The message was written in a version of a Pig-Pen cipher.
Online, at two points in the challenge, the reader is given a different and entirely real 11-digit telephone number to call. Calling the second number, 1-212-782-9932, takes the reader to a recorded message by the author of the novel, Dan Brown.

The second TDVC webquest or challenge was released in 2006, at the website of the novel's publishing company. This webquest required the reader to have the American version of the book's new jacket that was created for the republication of the novel. The jacket contained clues and puzzles, the answers to which had to be entered on the publisher's website to win the prize, a paid first-class round-trip by passenger-jet for up to four people to New York City, Paris, Rome, and Langley, I mean, Langdon, I mean, London.


The MARANATHA book and its competition was released in 2005. Elements of the 2003 TDVC webquest or challenge that seem to have inspired elements of the MARANATHA book, the book-puzzle, and the hunt, are
1. That it is a QUEST that involves a book, and a puzzle, to search for a relic, or treasure, that is, it is a typical arm-chair treasure-hunt competition.
2. That it has an online website that provides CLUES for the quest, or the treasure-hunt, to the reader.

OK, yes, these two examples are things that are not unusual, but that does not mean that their use by Mr. Prize and his Research Group was not inspired by the TDVC webquests.

3. The reference to a 'relic'.
4. The use of a Pig-Pen Cipher.
5. The use of a telephone number that is part of the puzzle, that is a real number that can be called by the reader, or, in the MARANATHA hunt, dialed, on the publisher's website.
6. A round-trip by passenger-jet to London, with the winner of the competition's own choice of fare type and passenger class, paid for by the winner.

Mr. Prize stated that there are "No Da vinci Code ties to Maranatha". That is, there is no direct tie to Dan Brown, and that the MARANATHA book and the hunt is not a promotional tie-in for 'The Da Vinci Code' movie.

The red and the yellow colours used for the MARANATHA book-cover branding seem to have been ripped from, sorry, inspired by, the book-cover of the Brown novel. Significant subject matter seems to have been copy-pasted from, sorry, inspired by, the content of the Brown novel. Significant elements seem to have been cloned from, sorry, inspired by, the webquests for the novel. The Brown novel was an inter-national best-seller that was about to have a motion-picture release. Maybe Mr. Prize could give 'The Da Vinci Code' novel, and its author, some credit.

This branding and skinning of the MARANATHA book and the hunt, in the content and the colours of 'The Da Vinci Code' novel, are what caused readers to suspect a connection between Dan Brown and the MARANATHA competition.

Yet, Mr. Prize was A-OK with letting readers suspect, wrongly, that there was a connection to the Brown book, firstly, for the purpose of rumour, for the sales, and then, for the lulz, for 6 months and 18 days, up until the first forum interview, where Mr. Prize stated publicly for the first time that there was no connection to the Brown book, but only stated this after a forum member asked Mr. Prize directly about such a connection.

If Mr. Prize and his Research Group really did discover THE Holy Grail, what-ever it is, then they would have used that object to inspire the branding for their book, wouldn't they? Any person who is actually interested in THE Holy Grail, does not need the book revealing the Grail to be branded in 'The Da Vinci Code' colours, key-words and content, in order to be motivated to buy a book about the really REALE Holy Grail.

That's an interesting thought...... PAX 681? - but what's with the 3 then? or how might it link elsewhere?

Administrator, the number 681 is made up of 3 numerals.
The MARANATHA book makes no specific reference to a PAX, or to the number 681. It is 'THE MIME HONK PROJECT' article by Mr. D. Birding that makes that specific reference. The content in the article is not in the book. To use a telephony term, the article is 'disconnected' from the book. The article can be thought of as a personal fanatical attempt by Mr. D. Birding to explain the MARANATHA book through an appeal to the authority of author Henry Lincoln.

Pierre Plantard was a Grand Master of the organisation known as the 'Priory of Sion', from 1981 to 1984.
The name 'Pierre Plantard' can be initialised as 'PP'.
The name of Mr. Prize's company is 'Priory Publications', which can also be initialised as 'PP'.
The puzzle book published by Priory Publications is titled 'MARANATHA - ET IN ARCADIA EGO'. While many readers assume that the Latin phrase is a reference to the Poussin Painting, another 'PP' initialism, and thus, through the painting, a reference to Rennes-le-Chateau, this Latin phrase is also the heraldic slogan on the Plantard family crest.

The name 'PLANTARD' is also concealed in the text on two lines on the VERY FIRST PAGE of the PIG-PEN Text of the MARANATHA book!

In the past, at the end of the competition, Mr. Prize, a Freemason, seemed tormented and divided between wanting to publish a great secret, and concealing it from the public. Ultimately, he decided to cover-up what-ever the information was that he had. You've got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, know when to walk away, know when to run.

Perhaps Mr. Prize's decision to fatally wound his own public face was informed by what happened to a previous Freemason who had set to expose Craft secrets to the public.

Tavern bills are dangerous. The infamous play-wright Kit Marlowe was killed over a tavern bill. Stabbed square in the fore-head, above his right eye.
Morgan was then released from jail, while the sheriff was out, by the sheriff's own wife, to two men who claimed to have paid Morgan's tavern debt. Morgan was taken away in a carriage and kill- uhhh, I mean, given the third degr- uhhh, I mean, never heard from again.
A letter in a local newspaper claimed that Morgan had been murdered by local Freemasons. But despite a massive search effort, and a large reward offered by DeWitt Clinton, the Governor of New York, who was also the Grand Master of the Freemasons of New York, no evidence was produced to support the charge of murder, nor was a body found, even though Freemasons are meant to be so good at finding corpses, and manage to do so on a regular basis.
A sheriff, who was also a Freemason, was removed from office and tried for his involvement in Morgan's disappearance, and served 28 months in prison after being
CONVICTED OF CONSPIRACY
for his role in kid-napping Morgan, and then holding Morgan against his will, before Morgan's disappearance.

So I can understand Mr. Prize's decision to limit his exposure, as it were, to a Masonic carriage ride. A u-turn is often taken when a carriage is headed towards a dead-end.
