It is quite a long journey also, as there are several steps required to get there and a lot of imagination in the mix on the way. If you begin with the word that is 'key' it will reveal the system to begin your journey. It is difficult but not impossible to become an 'astronaut'. The word you need I have mentioned before, it is the beginning and it will self confirm your progress as you go if you begin at the right place, at least to me it has. This is of course IMO.

It is quite a long journey also, as there are several steps required to get there and a lot of imagination in the mix on the way. I agree with this. As for a key word, I also believe there is one that is vital to get you going, and inform you along the way, but it would be unwise to regard this as the only word required to guide your progress. What I'm seeing all over the blogs at the moment is a concerted effort to use hints to generate a solve. This, to me, is an exercise in futility. Yes, the hints can be helpful, but only in conjunction with the poem, and mainly to confirm something revealed in the poem. There has been some excellent work done recently, particularly by OH!, but it is beginning to lead people down very large rabbit holes, IMO, because I see attempts at force-fitting the poem to hints that may have nothing to do with the clue currently under analysis. This is the principle reason I tried to ignore hints until I'd found the poem mechanisms. Almost every time I was seduced into taking account of non-poem statements, I got bogged down: the 200' claim was just one such example.

voxpops I am right with you on this, my beliefs also. You can't start by looking for hints in the book, that is putting the cart before the horse. First you have to think about the lines and words in the poem to get the seed of an idea then you look to the book for any related hints that may help to confirm your thought. There are hints in the book but they are very subtle, the poem lines and words are of paramount importance at first.
There is IMO a major clue to the system you start the journey with, it requires some simple research and imagination about how you could apply it to the map. Each step has its own information in the poem that suggests what is needed to further the journey to your discovery. Spending time thinking what can that line suggests to you is time well spent. It is determination and a lot of imagination you need as you pursue each piece of the poem's structure. It is all there IMO.

It's not stars, but a recent BOTG visit to Gardiners Island is everything I imagined. A pterodactyls' welcome w/crackling ice under foot and bending cache as converging rivers reveal grit and determination and those before me. So many questions! Did F walk the same shimmering trail of leaves past to heavy loads? How could "quickly down" be 5' 11" yet so far away? Will the blaze illuminate the opening and its waxing tide? Marvel and mystery await, but if there are no Keebler Elves or hollow tree to find, will we ever discover what makes their magical treats so delicious? A new flock of clues to ponder as a quilt of white tucks in this special place for winter. Thank you Forrest Fenn for another season of search and adventure. It brings new meaning to "strike the trail." A notion I hope to revisit once the snow melts. Meanwhile, my imagination will have to do.

Stars in my eyes.....always. You ever read *The Little Prince* book about adventures in vast, unexplored and mysterious areas? (Memory of this book mention about "Patagonia" came to mind upon seeing that logo on a jacket he wore in a recent photo). Following is a summary link related to Antoine de Saint-Expury' "The Little Prince" - I believe it is a favorite of f's, too: straightfromamovie.com/the-little-prince-review/

That left me feeling sad in a happy sort of way. Like those moments in real life, when you hurt at a loss but you know the beauty of it all and are glad. You know that nothing can take that away from you, or change that it was and forevermore very real.

OFF TOPIC:
Where has the the thread about The Temple of Jupiter in Split,(Croatia), gone?
IOW.....The Bronze statue of St. John the Baptist, (currently), in what originally is most likely the same location as the Jupiter statue once was.
My apology if needed.

This somewhat relates to the 'Hints and Aberrations' thread..... mysteriouswritings.proboards.com/thread/4541/hints-aberrations?page=1We are told by Forrest: Lorene Mills Interview 2011
Well in my book there’s a poem, like I said. And there are nine clues in the poem. And the clues are in consecutive order. If you can read that- if you want to find the treasure chest, you have my book there, I’ll tell you how to do it. Read the book just normally. The poem, and the rest of the book. And then go back and read the poem, 6,8, 10 times. Study every line. Every word. Then after you do that, read the book again slowly with the idea of looking for clues or hints that are in the book that will help you follow the clues. You can find the chest with just the clues, but there are hints in the book that will help you with the clues.www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oLzi4fpw_A&feature=youtu.be&t=1618It's a recipe for confirmation bias.... and I realize to find the solution..... but is there a way to know which we have?
