I may have posted something about this before, but I was reading quotes again yesterday and re-read FF's quote about whether the clues existed when he was a kid.
He said "The clues didn't exist when I was a kid..." (He hadn't written the poem, so no clues existed. Ok. Got that.
He goes on to say:
"BUT MOST of the places the clues refer to did." (capitalization is mine).
MOST? Did he say MOST? Ok - that must mean that at least SOME of the places the clues refer to did not exist when FF was young, right?
Does this impact your solve? Doesn't that mean that NOT ALL of the clues are canyons, creeks, rivers, etc... which would have existed when he was a kid?
Doesn't it mean that - at least ONE - and possibly MORE places that the clues refer to are - places that were CREATED AFTER FF was an adult...or a teenager....at least - meaning after about 1942-ish?
Is one of the places a town that didn't exist when he was a kid? A museum? A school?
I'm thinking hard about this - again, just thinking that - at least - they're not all canyons, rivers, etc..... I hope this helps someone - or at least makes you think more about the 9 "Places" in more detail.

I think they were still mapping the minutes & seconds when he was a kid. ha-ha.........

Well the trails might not have been there at the beging and he felt like a architect in writing the poem. This seems to be a area that has been built on.Now this will fill the clues that didn't excite when forrest was kid for riches new and old.

Interesting. Maybe the clues WWWH has nothing to do with waters. Warm=spring. Maybe the first clue is telling us what time of year to search? Or something that is more abundant at a particular time of year? Or the clues are like time travel into the past to some kind of future? Or maybe the starting point is in Texas and it's about the travels to the Rocky Mountains. Maybe one big circle from TX, Rocky Mt. and NM. Maybe we have to travel the same path. The whole 16000 miles?

Something to keep in mind: the word "most" is not logically exclusive of "all". Just as zero miles is "less than a few miles". About all you can conclude is that however many places there are that the poem's clues refer to, more than half of them existed when Forrest was a kid. There could be as many as 9 places if every clue is a place, and even more if any of the clues refer to more than one place. All in all, it's about as helpful as the Toledo comment.

I'm all ears since I've never made a Toledo connection to where he hid the chest. On balance, I think it was a flippant remark, just as I have never read anything into his "If I told you that, you'd go right to the chest" in response to the reporter asking "Who's Brown?"

I have also thought about it and agree with you - it really seems that at least on place the clues refer to is some king of artificial object built or formed after Forrest childhood. Some monument, bridge, road, national park and etc

It could be that the only clue that did not exist was the "blaze".

Did his dad ever take him and skippy to Santa fe on a vation. It would have been close to temple then yellow stone. Santa fe would have been a place where I think his dad would have tooken them because of the Indian history. Maybe ff and skippy found this spacial place and this is why it a dear place to him.

Nothing exists until it is discovered.
