A little long - but I always like to put my off the wall ideas out there to get others thinking....I still think if we help each other, it can be found.
I saw a post recently for a "simple solve" on CC - the link is here if you'd like to check it out. www.chasechat.com/showthread.php?tid=10515
I really liked the simplicity of this kind of thinking - "Porcelain Basin" (In Yellowstone off the Grand Loop) as a WWWH. That's pretty smart I think. Don't you? Maybe someone nearby will go have a look. I won't get there anytime soon.
That's definitely the kind of thing that would make us all slap our forehead if it were right isn't it?
I also liked the insight (from that solve) that NAU has a "Montview" road and that DMNS has a "Mountain View" road. If that's the 10th clue, then once again, that's vague enough so as not to be helpful - so it wouldn't surprise me at all that it was nothing more than that - a non-clue clue. Interesting idea that "Montview" might put it outside of Montana though (of course that could put in inside of Montana too - imho).
I don't post frequently, but when I find something interesting, I put it up, so here's what I thought of today.
I saw another link to FF's signatures - www.chasechat.com/showthread.php?tid=10781 You've all probably seen the "Fish hook" that he often puts on his signature right?
So my thoughts turned back to Oh!'s 109/43 and to the recent Buffalo Bill museum interview that was posted. I just kept thinking - shoot - he goes there 4 times a year for so many years - knows that place inside and out, and everywhere in between - and started when he was 6,7 years old....and then started thinking about "The end is ever drawing nigh" - which I've ALWAYS thought meant that the trail or the map is a "loop".....you end where you begin - and only when you get to the last clue - back where you started, will you know where to look for the treasure (near where you started). So, I started wondering where that loop might be if it started in Cody....and if it were a loop, it couldn't end in Kirwin....sorry Oh! - but I have to keep digging my way around the outskirts.
Anyway - I was looking at mapping different places from Cody - and I thought that maybe Oh! was on the right track, but made a wrong turn somewhere.....
So, here's the silly little thing that I wanted to share - google map from Cody, WY to Pitchfork Ranch, WY - Fish Hook Map - looks like that fish-hook signature doesn't it? Is that PART of the path? The right direction? Meaningless? I don't know - but I have been poking around that area a LOT - because I do think that it MIGHT be somewhere around there.
That probably doesn't mean much - but that might be a big hint - IF some of my other ideas about Wise, WY (which isn't on the map anymore) - and PEASE county (also no longer on the map) prove to be correct....I still want to look up Indian Creek on Mt. Wood - so if anyone gets there and finds nothing, please let me know....Hopefully I'll get up that way this year or next.
Maybe we need simpler solutions and tighter focus.
My final thought is another thing that is always in the back of my mind: "MOST of the places" that the clues refer to existed when he was a kid. That means that at least ONE of the places DID NOT EXIST in the 30's or 40's.....I wonder what place on the map is newer...
CRAP - ONE MORE THING - MAYBE he meant that most of the places existed when he was kid because some of those places NO LONGER EXISTED when he was a kid - that would be true of BOTH WISE AND PEASE COUNTY.....grrr....always a conundrum.
