If you look at the painting closely, you can see the outline of a horse in the marble behind the statue. MY FIGURE MAKES ONE CATCH THEIR BREATH TO LOOK UPON MY FACE IS INSTANT DEATH The statue is frightful looking, and legend says that if you look upon the face, it brings instant death. MY CREATOR WORKED WITH WHITE RABBITS TO MAKE UP FOR LATE HABITS Lorado Taft, the creator of this sculpture, was running behind when he was making this, so he was told to hire whoever he could to help meet his deadline. He hired women, who usually were not hired to do that type of work back then. They were called, “the white rabbits”. The artwork itself shows the Eternal Silence Statue. The bottom of the cape is the shape of the state of Illinois. As mentioned, you can see the outline of a horse in the marble behind the statue. The numbers from the zipcode are hidden in several places. There is a 13 in the bottom right, a zero in the bottom left, there are 6 branches at the top of the monument, and 6 branches at the left of the monument. The zipcode for Graceland Cemetery is 60613.
