I am starting this thread because the “c masquerade hint” is being discussed in another thread.
The central word on the left the border is IN and is differentiated by the closer tick marks on the border under it. Exactly opposite on the right folder are the letters HT ( count down 10 tic marks on each border to confirm if you want ) These letters together form the word HINT.
Note also that the colored letters on the left and right border give you the word tens which also ties in with the 10 tick marks and some other things that you can explore and find for yourself .
Well the white letters of IN and NIGHTMARE give you A GRIM HINT.

Grim--def. uninviting and forbidding. An uninviting hint?? I think those ticks are shorter due to the fact that Pel had to pay a ton of cash to have the paintings shrunk down to fit the page. I think he stated in his interview he usually paintings in 46x30, or something.
Buuutt... since we are on this page, a good question I always had is why there is a frog on the statues head??

And an eagle on the squirrel's haunch? Frog-Hair, there are frogs next to the HARE

As Astree mentioned, find the two shorter red ticks on the middle right and middle left inner borders. These pick the letters IN on the left and HT on the right. Reading left to right, note that IN HT is the same order as those letters are picked using the number/letter squares in the C MASQUERADE IN HT.
This page also has nods to Masquerade with the hare pictured and the "leaps flames" border phrase reminiscent of the "Jack jumps over the flame" border phrase in Masquerade.
I know there is some disagreement on what C MASQUERADE HINT refers to and some believe it suggests to pick letters using the stars. However, the actual Masquerade hint was the hint Kit Williams published in the newspaper which involved folding the page and finding the hidden message and by reading the first letters of the animals pictured in order.
The order of IN and HT and the nods to Masquerade seem to suggest we should find a hint on these pages. However, I have been unable to come up with one. I don't see any natural folds (and the Masquerade fold involved light passing through the page which clearly isn't feasible here). Reading the animals doesn't seem to work either. Maybe if you believe there is an eagle in the squirrel and you dismiss Fandango then you could get Deer, Eagle, Squirrel, Rabbit, Toad = DESRT or Desert as in Mt. Desert Island. But that doesn't tell us anything.
The only other thing I have looked at is the odd black marks running vertically under the frog next to the "1925" but again, I can't seem to make anything of them.

. Angel / Cherub Buck / Deer Eagle / Bird Fox / Frog Bell / Bridge Fire / Flames Hare Eyes Clock
Just some ideas.
For the 19 (2) 5, looks like it indicates SE to me. 1). Simple alpanumeric substitution S=19, E=2, S to E 2) count 19, then 2, then 5 for letters starting with LOST IN TIME...A SE 3) red SE are opposite each other in border
SE appears in a number of other places, maybe half a dozen that ive seen
IT Y’D IN SE ? (DESTINY, the ES TINY)

. The cherub is pointing up toward the border L, and foot above the XL, Roman for 40. XL is lost in the 1947 roman time series.
The cherub looks to be pacing, and counting, fingers ..1, 2, ....

astree - 999 in roman is CMXCIX, so I am not sure of this connection unless there is some other 999 in the book.
