Is this why forrest said 'hear me all and listen good'? When looked at a certain way the following lines are very similar.
Ther'll be no paddle up your creek,
Your effort will be worth the cold.
Wright the first line without abbreviations
There will be no paddle up your creek,
The word paddle has different meanings, when a noun it's an object. An oar for a canoe. When a verb it's an expression of energy i.e. We paddled all afternoon until arriving at camp site by sundown. In other words it's( to paddle) an expression of effort. So written/read another way,
There will be no effort up your creek, Your effort will be worth the cold.
Is Forrest calling attention to those lines w "hear me all and listen good?" If so why?

I like your logical analysis and I have similarly concluded that the "effort" action is going up the creek. But the poem says "no paddle." Another term for paddle (in the context of childhood punishment) is "to switch." I believe that the creek or the trail following it is a series of switch-backs.

riffle. w h i f f e r d i l l. Lower Madison at HIGH WATERS between (middle) WARM springs (WATERS). Located at bottom (BELOW) of the Ennis Lake (shallow full of sediment - BROWN) between (middle) WARM springs (WATERS) and black (hat) (ford). River character in the stretch is created by ice (COLD) gorging (hungry) in winter (COLD) and weed-bed (hair) development in summer (WARM). Absent (HALT) are classic tales (tail-Bessie) of narrow (books. Whom the Bells Tolls and The Great Gatsby. really thin...) riffles, fast run (run home) and deep pools (pot holes). Ennis town begins at 4941 feet but gain 59 ft and beyond the town of Ennis (tennis-in another of FF book). And of course FF's formula add two and divide by two and add an inch. ...and "The Peggy" is waiting there for FF. It all works out to a location at the end.
