Kpro and Cowlazars are holding a silent auction for the 2 racks and over 700 maps that were recently listed on Ebay by Shiloh from Forrest Fenn's collection. One half of the profit received will go to Charrisa Kreis who lost her home in Florida due to Hurricane Michael.
Forrest Fenn will sign and date both map racks and include 1 letter of authenticity with the collection. The silent auction starting bid is $5,000.
The auction runs Tuesday October 16th (now) through Monday October 22nd. The highest bid amount will be posted at noon each day on the Hint of Riches forum and "Cowlazars Grand Adventure" on Facebook. The auction is closed at noon on Monday October 22nd Pacific. (3pm Eastern) The winner can choose to remain anonymous but the winning bid will be announced LIVE on "The Ravens Nest" on YouTube Monday night Oct 22nd.
All bids need to be emailed to cowlazars@gmail.com. The highest bid received by noon PST October 22nd will win the collection. Buyer is responsible for shipping. Payment must be received within 48 hours. The original Ebay auction and pictures can be be viewed by logging in and selecting completed auctions on Ebay:
"Forrest Fenn maps"
This is a unique opportunity to purchase a large selection of USGS topographic maps previously from the private collection of Forrest Fenn.
This collection includes over 700 maps, mostly of New Mexico but also some of Utah and Colorado. Each map is organized alphabetically by region and stored in pull-out map drawers. The map cases are solid, and the drawers are all in good condition. The tops of the cases have some water damage, but there is no water damage to the maps themselves. Some maps have some small rips, tears, or critter-eaten corners, but the vast majority of them are in like-new condition. A few maps have pen or pencil markings and/or notes on them. Some maps are earlier editions from the mid-1950's, while others are revisions from the late-1990's. The paper quality varies, but most are printed on standard semi-gloss topo map paper. A few others appear to be printed on a more water-resistant paper. This map collection was owned by famed Santa Fe art dealer and author Forrest Fenn, and they were in his possession and use for over 2 years. I do not make any claims or suggestions that there may or may not be clues to the Fenn treasure hidden within these maps. These maps could be of great use to the individual adventurer, treasure hunter, private collector, or retailer.
