Hey, Wolf! More to support your star theory! “Kay Starr!!!” www.lyricsfreak.com/k/kay+starr/im+waiting+for+ships+that+never+come+in_21141643.htmlFrom TTOTC: “Life is a game of poker, Happiness is the pot. Fate deals you four cards and a joker, And you play whether you like it or not.” From The song “I am waiting for ships that never come in”: Life is only a game of poker And "happiness" is the pot Fate deals you five cards in the cradle And you play, whether you like it or not Follow the link and read the rest of the song. The words are pretty interesting. Sorry if this is already been brought up but I can’t seem to find it in an old thread.

So that means if I'm playing with 4 or 5 cards in my game would that mean I'm not playing with a full deck. Lol.

I am not sure if this has shown up anywhere else, but I do remember this aberation and reference and I have factored it in my solution. There are three schools of thought: 1. "Happiness is the pot" = Mary-juana as Fenn has used this term and reference to "smoking something" a few times. 2. The game of poker or a Royal Flush as I have found in my solution (in the process or writing that one up - half way there). 3. "Ships that never come in" The term "put in" is a term referring to ships coming to port. I believe there is no water and there is no ship and this is a very good example of sleight of hand, in getting the seeker to think one thing and the play on words means another. This hint tells us that is not the kind of port we are looking for.

I believe the original artist for the song (28 years prior to Kay Starr) is part of the clue, along with how Forrest altered the lyrics.

I believe the original artist for the song (28 years prior to Kay Starr) is part of the clue, along with how Forrest altered the lyrics. It was a standard with a huge list of artists. I think Kay Starr was the artist that stood out to me. There is definitely something there with the lyrics change. In other poems or quotes that Forrest “borrowed” from, I feel they are significant also.

I believe the original artist for the song (28 years prior to Kay Starr) is part of the clue, along with how Forrest altered the lyrics. I'M WAITING FOR SHIPS THAT NEVER COME IN (Jack Yellen / Abe Olman) Art Gilham - 1927 Franklyn Baur - 1928 Maurice J. Gunsky - 1928 Gene Krupa & His Orch. - 1940 Kay Starr - 1955 Mac Wiseman - 1956 Moon Mullican - 1958 Ernest Tubb - 1959 Jim Reeves - 1961 Also recorded by: Bing Crosby; Damita Jo; Bob Wills. Zaphod- you think Art Gilham 1927 was the important one? I was looking and Franklyn Baur was like “Benjamin Franklin” -he keeps popping up. Baur also might be a homophone for bower like when playing euchre- bowers tie into jokers and canasta by the way. 4 jokers in canasta I think. And a funny one here: mac wiseman “if you’ve been wise...”

Yep, Heidini, Art is my front-runner. And not just because of the Fenn Gallery angle... ;-)
