"If it comes back, I'm going to grab a pocketful of sleeping pills, take a treasure chest filled with treasure and a copy of my bio; and I'm going to walk out into the desert. Sometime they'll find my bones and the treasure, but my bio will be inside the box, so at least they'll know who I was." www.huffpost.com/entry/over-1-million-in-buried_b_822894I thought FF said it wasn't in a desert?

Hmmm. Maybe this is why Kyle S.thinks ff hid it south of Santa fe.

Possibly a different chest than the one we are looking for.

That was if his cancer came back. Presumably he figured he wouldn't be able to get to his special place. The desert is next door.

That was if his cancer came back. Presumably he figured he wouldn't be able to get to his special place. The desert is next door. This statement is all in theory: So the story about Cerrillos Turquoise mining trading post and where he did the signing for his book (the one book he his signing in the TToTC pictured in front of the book) is possibly the first hiding place near the Brown family's home. I emailed Mr. Brown a while back and got the full story where he said the TC was retrieved by FF himself when he was cured from cancer (this is Mr. Brown's family statement not mine). The sacred mound stands out in the middle of now where sounds like it might have been the blaze. FF had the book written first from my understanding before extracting words to form his poem from his book. The last chapter of his book has the poem. The poem in the book was changed to meet the needs and satisfaction for FF. FF changed the original poem to re-hide the TC some where north of Sante Fe in the Rocky Mountains. He kept the capital "B" home of Brown? Dang it! So confusing. FF original place was a desert? His special place he knew has a kid? All the talk about pies in his book. A pie is a dessert. Did he mean in his book if one takes out the one letter "s" in dessert one would have the key word desert? Like knowledge = knowlege. Caddis = cadis. I am confused here. He knew exactly where he was going to hid the TC. I see two places of interest. "With populations increasing so rapidly maybe there won’t be room for a lot of things we enjoy doing today, like hunting and hiking and looking across the desert just for the fun of seeing nothing at all. I seems so sad to me." quote from TTOTC. Mentioned only once in his book.

There's one state that has a quarter of a state to look in Nwe Mexico.

Maybe Forrest hid "a" treasure back when he had the cancer, and then retrieved it only to decide to do it all again only better. Including removing the large gems and adding his autobiography, and more items. The "special place" may have come after, as part of the redo. Maybe Forrest couldn't get there the first time due to health reasons and just went to the desert. He didn't write the poem until after he hid the treasure (the second time), so his special place wasn't part of the first hiding. Nor was the poem, as it is published. This is all speculation, except for the part about when he wrote the poem. I'm just trying to make sense of that story. A couple of other notes. We know that Forrest changed the name of the treasure chest from "Tarzan" to "Indulgence." We also know that Forrest changed the poem, and removed something about his bones. His bones weren't going to be there with this theoretical second hiding, unless he got cancer again. But he wouldn't have known if that was ever going to happen when he wrote the book and poem. Mystery surrounds "The Chase."

That was a strange story. Maybe Forrest hid "a" treasure back when he had the cancer, and then retrieved it only to decide to do it all again only better. But it does bug me that his special place might have been two places. I guess I am taking the interpretation wrong about him saying he knew exactly where he was going to hid the treasure. I always thought this meant a place he knew or hung out at has a kid. I guess it can be a place when he was an adult. I am getting the information from TarryScant site. Searchable quotes made by FF. He even mentions warm water has luxury.

If FF had a "special place" that he grew up visiting, there would be a 100% change that his other family members would know the location of the "special place". He may have not told his family members the exact location of the chest, but they do know his "special place". If you had "special place" that you wanted to die at, would you not share this location with your wife at some point in your life? I believe the person that FF knew that was within 200ft of the TC, also knew FF's special place (maybe FF mentioned it over dinner) and did not have to solve the poem. Just my opinion.

Yes that makes sense but what about the person that gets within 200ft. I think the person or persons that gets this close. I don't think the searcher don't understand the correct meaning. The meaning I use this as Near/nigh. It backs up but too far to walk
