Hey, I was one of those guys. But I have to correct you on a point, my friend. I didn't care about approval or feedback. And I had no lack of confidence. lol It's funny, this quest is so much harder to get right than anyone ever expected. That's my opinion, at any rate. But it's very rewarding anyways. Buckeye: I luv the name. You seem to put down in words a lot of things many of us only think about. I respect your opinion. And rate is relative - doesn't matter what speed you move at - only that you get There. Thank you. As Donnie Joe Heath said in 'Looking for Lewis and Clark', "If we don't change course soon we'll end up where we're going." But I've always wanted to see what's over that next hill anyways. Edit: As long as I have a Babe Ruth candy bar in my pocket. Have Babe, will travel. lol

That is crazy snow!! We have been hoping for snow this winter and not a bit has fallen. However, I would not want THAT much snow! YIKES!!! Yeah I wouldn't go out in that either, lol! My spot is like I said earlier, much closer to the road than most. I believe it is within 500 feet of the road, which is why I believe "several" people have been within 500 feet. They drive right by it. After our trip, if we end up being wrong, I hope I can post our solve and see what you guys think and get feedback on where we may have gone wrong. I would be super interested to read what you guys think. :-) I'm DYING to share my thoughts, lol.....but no way until after our trip. The days go by soooooooooo slooooooooowly!
No joke, I am just trying to get through the days waiting for the summer. I watched all three Lord of The Rings yesterday to pass the day, hahahaha!

So this gave me a Idea if Im going into the woods 300ft then I should come up on a fence or sign saying no trespassing. This would tell me 200ft on the other side of the fence or sign the TC could be. Searchers can't get no closer then 200ft Some thing is turing them around because they are the meeks Forrest tell the searcher you can't be a meek in hunting for his Tc.

No joke, I am just trying to get through the days waiting for the summer. I watched all three Lord of The Rings yesterday to pass the day, hahahaha! Please don't die on me yet - we have so much to get accomplished. I have always told my kids - "once you start something, I expect you to finish it." I so believe you are on the right track about the distance. We have a trip planned but not until Easter, a very appropriate time to go on a spiritual journey - don't you think? I'm having trouble waiting until then but the weather is unrelenting with the snows and the ice - both here and there. Thankfully I can work from home remotely when the weather is bad and I can't get into my office - doing just that today. Isn't the internet wonderful? Here's a thought that just came to me - regardless of the weather, I seem to be always "snowed under" - doesn't matter the season. Spend some time reading - my hubby watches the tube (all the ole westerns over and over and over again) - if I see Tombstone one more time on the screen, I think I'm gonna get one of his old Colts and take aim. I don't nap and can dink all day - that's what makes it hard to work from home - so many pleasant distractions. See that's what I'm doing now - you are one of those pleasantries (is that a word?). Time to go - hope to visit again with you. JP

Myke - OK? - somewhat following you (shaking my head in a circular manner) - Correct me on what you are saying. You head off into the woods to go 300 ft and during this jaunt you hit a fence or sign that indicates "no trepassing." Do I climb the fence or ignore the sign and then move ahead (up to 200 ft) till I reach my destination or do I go back the way I came for 200 ft. I tend to think I would turn around. I know FF wants us to be a little brave but I shore as heck don't want to get a-rested. Help me Lord!

I can't go to my site until July when the ice melt of the direct path. Ice melt - that's SALT. Guess I better pack some just in case; then I can plow ahead.

@mikemarcum03 I have a theory on the 200 footer too. I think I may have figured out where they were but no way will I say because that person may see it and know where to go, hahaha! The thing I am most excited about is sharing what/where I believe "tarry scant and marvel gaze" is. Oh my gosh I am so excited to see what you guys think. It will be our very first time to the Rockies. As many have said, if nothing else, it should be an amazing trip! Can I just say though??? I am TERRIFIED of DA BEARS!!!!!!!!!!! Holy Cow! In my mind there is this treasure, and it's being guarded by bears and we have to figure out how to slip past them without being eaten! Nightmare fuel!!!
@wwwamericana you are so sweet!!!! ...and funny! My husband and I have Tombstone memorized word for word, and it has been an ongoing joke between us for many years to work lines from the movie into our every day conversations. It has provided so much laughter, hahaha. I especially liked telling him one day when he misunderstood something my daughter said, "that's not what she said you ignorant wretch." HAHAHAHA! We both laughed so hard!!!
Thank you so much to everyone for being so kind and welcoming to me on this post. I was scared I would say the wrong thing and upset someone. I am your typical wide eyed naive newbie. Be patient with me. eek!

Got a song for you www.youtube.com/watch?v=BERd61bDY7k And a pic of me and my hubby many, many moons ago. Someone here at home mentioned the resemblance not so very long ago. What do you think?

Yes look if you had to cross a fence or pass a sign in mountain's what are odds some one going be at the 200ft mark where your at. If you think Forrest hasn't cross a fence or past a sign and it says to keep out knowing Forrest he would bend the rules a bet. But forrest ant out to get u in trouble. Because he only put the TC 200ft on the other side of the fence or sign. Bold. Npftm. Brave. You have to be a a certain kind of searcher.

@fallingrock I sure will take lots of pics. I've only ever been to one mountain, Mount Baker. I can't even imagine what the Rockies must look like up close.
The thing I find super frustrating about this chase is not being able to bounce ideas off each other until we have failed. It is what it is, though. That can't be changed. However, it is nice to have an actual conversation with people who not only know what this is and what it is about, but are also glued to the poem and trying to solve it. I imagine we must look so nuts trying to talk to a loved one like "but seriously, don't you think blah blah blah is what he meant by 'the meek'" or "I'm really thinking this line is a hint and not a clue, what do you think?" lol! It's a bit of a mental prison isn't it? Man, I have much respect for you guys who have continued in that trapped place for this long. I can certainly understand how it came to be that you guys started meeting up and having festivals and such. It's nice to be understood.

Lol, you've just described Stephanie's, Dal's, Illinois Ghost's, Diggin Gypsy's, JDA's (and many, many others') poem-solving history over the last eight years, with the only difference that many have made a new BOTG trip each time they had a new epiphany. An expensive strategy if you live far from the Rockies, and not a very sensible plan for a poor person hoping to get lucky.

Here in Montana, we have experienced severe subzero temps. It is dangerous to be unprepared to venture outside without the right gear. I advise anyone headed up here to keep the weather in mind. Please be safety smart.
