It is believed by most that Image 2 matches with Verse 6 leading to Charleston

C for Charleston, plus USS Maine capstan. what else? You aren't wrong about the "C" Sluggo, but personally I always thought "The Hounds of News" went with Chicago. The rag on the bartenders arm is shaped almost exactly like Grant Park. I still maintain the figure on page 180 has a resemblance to Mike Ditka, who would have been the new Bears coach at the time. The pose looks like someone clutching a football near a yard line. The papers and dollar bills may be a clue to his recent signing with the Bears. He also has the #34 in his hair, which was Walter Payton's jersey number.

That lion's ear looks like a big ol' C!

Have you ever considered "Kinderguardians" as the Charleston fair folk match? That is the one I like based on a couple matches. The best one is Dynamite Hole, which is a fishing hotspot and geographical feature in Charleston Harbor. It explains why the kid has a box of dynamite. The rest of the clues dive into the Verse 5 vs Verse 6 debate for Charleston. So either White Point Gardens or Fort Moultrie depending on which verse you believe goes with Charleston. As choice said there are those white tips on the Fort Sumter shaped clock face. Then you have the lion in Image 2 who has the same patches on the skin that Kinderguardians does...has to be a significant clue to be in both? To me the shape of Fort Moultrie looks an awful lot like the shape of Kinderguardians head...put them side by side and you'll see what I mean. Another significant clue is the object directly under the lions right eye looks like a match to the object on Kinderguardians right ear. If I had to guess I'd say it could be an ostrich feather, which Osceola wore. He died as a prisoner at Fort Moultrie and is buried just outside. The vast majority of people favor Verse 6, a few like James V favor Verse 5. I'm open as you could make a compelling case for either, based on the clues. Honestly, there might be more for Fort Moultrie as the Dynamite Hole area can be seen from there, but not from White Point Gardens. Be open and look at both, don't sell Verse 5/Fort Moultrie short just because the majority favor Verse 6/White Point Gardens is my advice.
Verse 5 begins: Lane Two Twenty two
The way you get onto Sullivans Island in order to access Fort Moultrie is Station 22 1/2 Street...
Halfway between the mainland and Sullivans Island is Goldbug Island.
The skull-looking object in Image 2 could be the "Goldbug".
Look into the short story by Edgar Allan Poe.
Poe was actually stationed at Fort Moultrie.
It's all very interesting...

thank you for sharing all that. good stuff. quite frankly, i am ignoring verses and focused on interpretting the art and drawings. so i am open to all. and happy to know what others see. i know someone put together a list matching drawings to cities....decided not to use it and see if i could find clues and figure out what to do with them.
i dont disagree with the C for Chicago, but do you see the capstan in the C negative space? just curious.
onward.

I looked at Image 2 and the clues in the book a few weeks ago briefly and anything that seemed associated to image 2 turned out to be telephone related. Tinkerbell's wing looks like the wings in image 2 and pointing to a liberty bell looking bell, phone handset and cord in the graphics. Bell as in Bell phone network. Fair remuneration, pay for play; pay phone! Coin slot reference in image 2 all over the place. Someone should poke around that phone in the WPG!

Hi Sluggo. I see the capstan. Also, the "C" in the ear that I mention, I don't know what it stands for...I just point it out.

BTW one very important place that I think wiki got wrong in the reference to the place in or around WPG is the "White House". The WH I believe is the William Washington's house; same last name as the 1st president and is catty corner to the location of the phone! tinyurl.com/ux5svae

Do you see just the top half of the capstan or the whole thing? If you are seeing the whole thing then IMHO the curves are way off from the actual capstan. There is a vague resemblance, just not sure its a close enough match?

I do like this, definitely lots of coin slots in Image 2 and there is that pay phone in WPG like you said.
The biggest issue with using Verse 5/Fort Moultrie with Charleston is that it sets about 3-4 verses in motion, wouldn't be a straight swap with Montreal.
Not sure if its been said, but if you look above the lion's right ear you will see the word "holy" in his mane and Charleston is nicknamed "The Holy City". Already a bunch of city confirmers, but one more for good measure...no doubt that Image 2 is Charleston.
