the Josh Gates show "Expedition Unknown" has an episode ( airing tonight*) on the subject of a very old and unsolved treasure hunt in France. I thought that was a very nicely done show..... great summary on the hunt-- some solutions to the puzzles, and then suggested solutions to others which are not conclusive.... The book is in French...(and therefore all the puzzles and solutions)....so since I don't speak it, it's quite difficult to work on it...lol....(I would love to though)...

I love the Golden Owl hunt, though the fact this has been unsolved for 27 years suggests it's the trickiest to solve! I translated the clues and what's known so far on a website goldenowlhunt.co.uk in case anyone wants to have a go. The mysterious 'spiral with four centres' has been driving me mad for years lol  |

The mysterious 'spiral with four centres' has been driving me mad for years lol I got very interested in it, but then thought a lot might be lost in translation. In addition, if I understand correctly, there could be references to French history and geography. |

You might be right astree, though the sticking point to my mind seems to be the overall game mechanic. It's clearly about drawing lines on a map, and Max Valentin had produced similar hunts in the past. So one big question would be what is being drawn? I've spent far too long on this one and taking a break! But occasionally the site leads to nice emails from other hunters that spark ideas. |
