I belong to a group called "Lost My Stuff". It is a national organization dedicated to helping people find their lost stuff and not charging them to do it. I went out today to search for an engagement ring that had been passed down for generations. It was lost when the intended got mad and threw the ring at her fiance. The ring was from his family. They were at a bed and breakfast so I went to search the yard where the event occurred. She had some other detectorists (is that a word?) out a couple of days ago and they were unable to find anything. So as I was beginning to search she texted me that one of the guys was coming to join me. He showed up and we introduced ourselves. In our small chat we were talking about our backgrounds and I mentioned that I was a retired teacher having taught band and AP Computer Science. He said "Ahh, band, my band director was_______" I nearly dropped my teeth. I said he was my band director too. Are you from Wink Texas? He looked shocked and said yes. It turns out we knew each other back in the late 1950's. What are the chances? Unfortunately, we had no luck finding the ring. I will go back again in the future but Pennsylvania is beckoning me for now!
