We are told to 'look quickly down' and 'Tarry Scant'.....
What is the rush?

Another thought on this..... on the Chasing the Forrest Fenn FB page, it was asked: 'Other than having found the Blaze, how do you know you've been wise?' I answered: Seems to me the only way you can 'find the Blaze' is if you have followed the poem to the right spot...... so one way I read that poem line is if you are in the right spot, and found the Blaze..... THEN....look quickly down.... It's interesting with this interpretation, because it makes you question whether you look quickly down from the location of the Blaze...or from where you are standing to see it? Another Q or possibility?

I like your idea of "clever" or "perceptive". Look down with perception. Be clever and perceptive.
To completely change the subject as I was writing this: Wouldn't it be something if "the blaze" was like one of those old "magic eye" books? Stare at it, cross your eyes, and you will perceive the image of the last clue and where to find the treasure.

IMO “look quickly down” refers to, look down keenly or directly. The blaze isn’t the location of the TC; however, it points to the final area.

These three words have so mystified me. Many thoughts similar to all the above, but one sticks to me bigtime because it totally makes sense... Look quickly down= take a peek/peak.

I'm right there with you Jamie. Forrest has even said when you find the blaze to look down because there's the treasure, that if if you find the blaze the distance to the treasure will be obvious. Sooooooo confused.

I’m confused by the notion here that the blaze can be found IN the poem. If that were true and you were looking down in the actual poem (and maybe also botg) - that would mean a searcher could essentially shortcut the poem.
If you know for certain WWWH (and I believe you can be as certain as is possible without having the chest) and are in the general area and if it’s true that you can figure out the blaze from the poem, wouldn’t you be able to go straight to the blaze without figuring out hob, no paddle creek, heavy loads, etc? Doesn’t seem to fit that there are no shortcuts.

I hope it is a lot like Zaphod's avatar. Things are about to speed up once you put them into motion.

Ironwill: I never said it was a fact - I called it a notion and was referring to the conversation earlier on this thread speculating it as a possibility. My counter to that idea is that means you could jump the rest of the clues if the blaze name could be deciphered directly from the poem, and that seems contradictory to the idea that there are no shortcuts.

Interesting thought: What would a child say if you gave them the poem and told them to read the Look Quickly Down line??

Forrest said use the poem like a map. Remember the scavenger hunt comment. So you have to figure it out as you go. You have to be wise and THEN find the blaze. Contiguous, in order. I think the blaze IS in the poem/ “map.”

Has anyone ever thought that maybe quickly refers to “quick” as in the core of? As in the thru the middle of the Blaze?

Our final guess is that the treasure may be along road 156 in Wyoming. Thank you for taking time out of your day to help us in our class! You cannot solve the problem by starting in the middle of the poem. You should start with the first clue and then solve the other eight in order. dalneitzel.com/2017/02/08/forrest-gets-mail-13/
