It was one year ago that i tested my very first solve for San Francisco, botg at Mile Rock Beach, with very humbling results. But I am so sure. I even wrote it up which I found wonderfully cathartic. To no avail of course.
Having attempted and abandoned Facebook and Twitter, finding Jenny's site and the solid community of Secret searchers was a blessing. Then finding my own copy of the book was the other blessing. That alone has provided more depth of investigation than I thought possible. the best images online are remarkably insufficient, especially for the watermark layer of clues.
I have a confession. I am more obsessed with finding clues than finding the treasure. As a kid, i had a subscription to Highlights magazine so i could solve the puzzles and find the differences in the drawings. that was a luxury for a kid in the sixties. usually had that magazine at the dental office and barber shop.
The Secret artists put a ton of work into creating and hiding the clues. The paintings and the book. I want to find all of them.🔍 I realize most do not believe me and cannot see what I do. that is ok. i cannot see letters and numbers in all those curly shapes, but some of you can. i will find the deliberate shapes and clues in the art and y'all figure out what to do with them.
like the attached. clue interpretations from several different folks, plotted on a map. (union square should be a blue pin as that is where the fourth rose leaf points). a fascinating straight line, that, if extended, goes into China Basin. Significant? What about Mile Rock Beach and CA PoLoH to the west? lits of clues out there. hmmmm, the clues create a route in SF? what other cities do this.....i am thinking NYC for sure.
guess i better order more city maps and pins! old school, which was just 'school' for me 😋. lots of experience with map and pins...using the first Marconi social media platform, shortwave ham radio mapping global operators. yeah just like Contact. KASW5526 is my station id.
my point, do not underestimate the curiosity and resourcefulness of teenagers and young adults in the early 80s. computing consoles like commodore and trs80 and gaming consoles like atari and nintendo had just come out. ZORK. I am doing now what i would gave done back in the day, just with different tools. with a book, instead of photoshop, i would have used the on-base AV photo club facilities and manual negative processing. easy enough, the photo negative is Photoshop invert. plenty of cheap filter film to play with. just would take hours and hours. but we had hours and hours.
thanks to this community for all the support and collaboration. we all have our "gifts" and we have proven we can advance our search when we work together.
Cheers!
