The character Tarzan* is known for thumping his own chest while yelling — but if Tarzan gets a bad cold, he might cough so hard that his chest aches. Another kind of chest is a storage box with a connected lid that swings open. This is the oldest meaning of chest, from the Old English cest, "box or casket."
*The reference to Tarzan here might indicate that "cest" is relevant.
Forrest Fenn = The Romanesque Chest
Forrest = forest r = ule(Gr.) r = rule = norma(L.) = roman(anagram) = romanesque(F.)
Fenn = fen(homophone) = palus(L.) = pale = leap(anagram) = saltus(L.) = vault = fornix(L) = arch = arx(x=ch) = castle(L.) = la cest = the(F.) chest
It may also be seen from the above that:
Forrest Fenn = Roman castle = romance(F.) castle = The Castle of Love
This is one of the reasons that I believe that the chest decorated with scenes of the Siege of The Castle of Love was specifically chosen by ff, and was not just any old chest into which he could fit his treasure.
It is also another reason why The Castle of Love would be a special place for ff. to hide the chest.

. Thats a good point, bownarrow. I missed connecting it tibThe Castle of Love. . The poem speaks of water and wood, so has the possibility of a connection to forest fen. one thing that i havent seen discussed is Forrests middle name, Burke. The name has the meaning “fortress” (fascinating, how similar forrest and fortress appear). the poem refers to an “f fort” and no place fort he meek. I believe there is other information that indicates that the treasure is held securely. so, it is possible that forrests complete name could be associated with the hiding location. BURKE letter groupings are found in the poem at place like and take it (ke) not far but (rbu) here, i am remined of forrests “bur(r?)” comment within the last year (dont have the source at the moment)

Also:
Fenn = fen ( homophone) = morfa(W.) = forma(anagram) = beauty (L.) = venus(L.) = love
All this is expanded in the detailed key along the lower border of the map, while Venus (or Aphrodite in Greek mythology), the goddess of love, in her chariot, looks down on the campaign from the finely engraved title cartouche at top right.
The connection of the name Fenn with Venus is of interest too,(see above) given that the cartouche on the Allegorical map of The Castle of Love depicts Venus in her chariot.
So:
Venus in a chariot = Fenn in a car*
*chariot = char(F) = car

Hi Astree, I ordered this treasure hunt book - thanks for letting me know about it. Coming from France so not sure how long it will take. The creator basically left 11 riddles to solve. Interestingly the riddles hint at where to begin and end the hunt - referred to as the alpha and omega clues. We have single and double omegas. hmmm...

Has Fenn been asked to write a foreword in the new edition maybe? That’s an interesting idea; however, the article list FB Fenn as an author in the sidebar. It’s funny to me, that the article list forest as a secret collaborator. But we know forest comment on what a secret is. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On_the_Trail_of_the_Golden_Owl

Timeline makes sense. How did Fenn become intimate with a Frenchman? None of his lifestories hint to this. Except for all the talk about Clovis. None of the Golden owl book covers mention Fenn though. Golden owl is 22 pages only. Kabbalistic touch there.
