m.youtube.com/watch?v=1OKtNz73V5I&t=2m02sI thought I had a fairly clear understanding of when he wrote the poem. My understanding was it took him 15 years. He has previously said he *finished* the poem after he hid it. He hid the chest in 2009 or 2010, but I think a few searchers have used other information to pin that down to June or July 2010, which is only a couple of months before TTOTC was published. There has always been a discrepancy in that he got cancer in 1988 and 2010-1988 is 22 years, so there are some 7 years unaccounted for where he was not working on the poem. The above video is completely counter to that, saying he wrote the poem after he hid it. Maybe he simply kept the poem in his head all those years? Yet Doug Preston has claimed to have seen an earlier version, and Forrest has mentioned an earlier version containing "leave my bones." This new interview is baffling. Thoughts?

I thought I had heard on a show or read at one time also that his wife peggy said she was at work and didn't even realize Forrest was gone that day.. it took him 45 minutes from his car to the hiding spot and it took him too trips so a 15min walk to and from the site.. its under a bridge or wooden path over water.. warm water holts, that the shore line.. all water stops at the shore line.. take it, means take the path..just my view of this

It’s confusing to me too. In the first years of the chase we heard from forest on several occasions that it took him many years of working on the poem,

This is an extremely important piece of information because if forrest drove the entire distance it certainly limits the search area. I know there are second and third hand information about Forest being home in time for dinner On the day he had the treasure, but I don’t have the source readily available for those either. there’s a quote where forest says that Peggy did not know within something like 18 months of when he hid the treasure. edit: www.sfreporter.com/news/coverstories/2018/06/13/the-legend-of-fenns-gold/So Peggy could not say she didn’t even know he was gone that day because she would not know what day it was

His latest comment with his interview with the Aussies got me thinking. When asked if an off road vehicle would be needed, he said he didn't want to answer, but then said he didn't need one to get out of his driveway. Why would he insert that comment? He said at one point that he walked from "his" sedan to the location twice in 1 afternoon. So is he subtly confirming that he drove his own vehicle from his house to the location?

Maybe those 7 years where during his cancer treatment. Also in the interview he wasn't sure if he wrote the poem and then hid it or vice versa.

As Forrest has said, there is a LOT of bad information on the blogs, as recent posts have demonstrated.

Astree: TOTALLY DISREGARD WHAT THAT POSTER SAID!!
Neither Forrest, nor Peggy, nor anyone else has ever spoken or written the words: *she was at work and didn't even realize Forrest was gone that day*
The rest of her post appears to just be her opinion; so I'll just wish her good luck with that.....loco
