Permission granted by forest_blight to post his and Stercox's solution Station VI (March 29, p. 72)CHARTRES CATHEDRAL, CHARTRES, FRANCE. The Maze at Chartres, France (1235 AD). Bouillon's Templars built Chartres Cathedral. It is the labyrinth of the Cretan Minotaur. In walking the Chartres style labyrinth the walker meanders through each of the four quadrants several times before reaching the goal. At the center of the labyrinth is a rosette design which has a rich symbolic value including that of enlightenment. It is also noteworthy that the pointing figure on p. 73 is patterned after Leonardo's real-world painting "Madonna of the Rocks."
