Having fun so far. Still piecing together the images, locations, numbers and all the puzzle pieces I have found so far. Great hunt.

Wait.. so is that long narrated poem the clues... or is it the McBane guy talking at the end that's the clue?

Pretty sure the poem and MP3 give you the background and clues to get you to the location. I would bet that McBane talking at the end will be the boots on the ground instructions. I am fairly certain I have State, City, the "Irish Famed Son" and have it down to a 10 mile radius. I am researching locations to validate. Key phrase for me in MP3 - They rest near an IRISH FAMED SON without bounds in the spring thy namesakes YOUNG." Would love to have the correct words and validate my thinking. More to come...

I listened to the MP3 and my first reaction (without transcribing the text, so this is 100% reactionary, unfounded, unstudied, and most likely way off base) is that the coin cache is underwater, in a fountain, in the courtyard of a famous bar I've visited a few dozen times over the last few dozen years. At least that's what the imagery and wordplay immediately evoked for me, including "Irish famed son," "maker's mark," "holy grail" and "in the spring." I'll listen again later, take some real notes and maybe rethink my initial crazy ideas, but did anyone else find themselves remembering a place from their past when they heard certain words and phrases?

Just posted a 7 minute video, photos of clues and URL that give a ton of new insight into Sunset Trail. Hope everyone will be a lot further in hint after reading. Posted on Sunset Trail Facebook Group. Found a URL hidden in MP3 that points to about 7-8 files that GiveBack story on Tommy McBane and our newspaper clippings in clues into his life. Was so much information that I am still worried I found something JM had not intended....

Was so much information that I am still worried I found something JM had not intended.... Holy hot chicken batman! I think you found something unintentional too. It's quite common for people to link their secret files in MP3 descriptions.

I think it was intentional. It looks like it was left as clues.. but I could be wrong.

The entire hunt keeps circling back to Andrew Jackson: he's the Irish famed son (2nd generation Irish immigrant) whose soul is embedded in the silver scratch (7th president, 7 times luck). The pistols were the ones Jackson used in his famous 1806 duel. The square in New Orleans is Jackson Square, the name behind the maker's mark is Old Hickory (AJ), etc. Spruce, Pine and Hickory are street names, but they appear in many cities. If the scratch lies near the corpse of Jackson, it would be in/near the Hermitage, but I think it might be more complicated than that. There are a lot of numbers in the MP3 and corresponding written materials. I think I'm onto something, I just don't know what.

Maybe someone should run that weird image of McBane through one of these sound programs and have a listen. It could be that the altered image is hiding some sound clues....

Can’t post my video here, but did on the sunset trail: a treasure hunt GROUP page (yes, there is a hidden second group page that JM oversees). I posted what I found and was actually worried because it seemed like SO much info and I thought I stumbled across a hidden backdoor. Here’s what I did, after listening to the MP3, I attempted to look at the properties and html/source code of the MP3 file. There had to be something with the file. I couldn’t access anything so I saved it to my hard drive. Then upon right clicking on the MP3, hidden under the GENRE was a website URL. There is a synapsis of Tommy McBane’s life and a number of links to “newspaper” clippings. Lots of new info and I went as far as to post a potential five mile radius where I believe it is located. Good luck!

Although I'm in the UK, I'm following this hunt, has anyone worked out why the clippings all have # numbers?
1 73 336 342 411 430 586
Also why the odd capital letters in the file names?

The pistols were the ones Jackson used in his famous 1806 duel. The square in New Orleans is Jackson Square, the name behind the maker's mark is Old Hickory (AJ), etc. Spruce, Pine and Hickory are street names, but they appear in many cities. If the scratch lies near the corpse of Jackson, it would be in/near the Hermitage, but I think it might be more complicated than that. There are a lot of numbers in the MP3 and corresponding written materials. I think I'm onto something, I just don't know what. I do think you are on to something. This is where the puzzle is also leading me. The pistols were likely made by Phillip Creamer, best gunsmith leaving Harper's Ferry in 1805. They are described as officer's pistols. And there is documentation that AJ owned Creamer dueling pistols, likely used in that 1806 duel against Dickenson. The 1795 musket was a common weapon used during the war of 1812. The NOLA monument and square, must be Jackson. The "war" McBane mumbles about would be the war of 1812, the monument is of AJ at the Battle of New Orleans during that war. The diary references the Great Mississippi Flood of 1927. McBane appears to be planning to bury treasure near the monument in March. With the city being threatened, the city elite decide to blow up the Caernarvon levee to divert flood waters away from the city on April 29th. This purposefully floods St. Bernard's Parish saving the city. Chalmette's Plantation is the site of the Battle of New Orleans, in St. Bernard's Parish. McBane's precious item would have been lost if buried at the site of Jackson's heroic battle. We see him wanting to add a tavern to the theater in Omaha to showcase his 1800's artifacts collection, a "nod to 1812". We see him making a duck refuge and canal ditches (moats) northwest of the refuge. The file name says 1969. The duck refuge was created 2 years prior to this article. Arapaho National Wildlife Refuge is the only waterfowl refuge I can find established in 1967. It's in Walden CO, with a number of constructed ditches north to the refuge area on maps. This whole area sits in Jackson Co. (named after AJ). Throw in his Hickory tree preserve in Wisconsin (Old Hickory) and when McBane is asked about his wealth in general, he replies, "Aye, is a tribute to a great man, all of it." You can't help but see the connections. And the 7th President and Irish descent that you mentioned! This "who" could be a promising landmark for the "where". Personally, I'm liking Nashville (the folk and jazz music, the Grand Ole Opry references), given that Tennessee is all about Andrew Jackson. They even have a monument just like the one in NOLA. Still there is a lot of unconnected things. But I'm on board with AJ!!
