... and when I say "help", I mean with the chase I have for a long time taken it for granted, that FF has stated clearly, that he does not favor anyone with hints. So if he for example answers an email and this results in him giving a hint/knowledge, that is not already publicly made, he will publish this hint/knowledge.
I was just now in another forum asked for a source for this, and realized that I don't remember any specific statements from FF about this. If anyone want to help me collect statements made by FF about this, it will be appreciated

In Scrapbook Sixty Eight (Dal Neitzel's blog), FF wrote that he had been talking with people privately about the idea of WWWH referring to a dam. "I have discussed around that subject with several people in the last few days and am concerned that not all searchers are aware of what has been said. So to level the playing field to give everyone an equal chance I will say now that WWWH is not related to any dam."
There seems to be a desire on his part to keep if fair, in this regard. However, with FF answering personal email, inviting people into his home (where they interview him and record him), etc., it's only natural he would occasionally give a small hint to just one person.

Hi jakob, Found it. "Seventh, there has been talk about some searchers receiving under-the-table clues that will help them find the treasure. Those accusations are false. I have, A wife, two daughters, two sons-in-laws, seven grandkids, one great grandkid, a cousin, a nephew and his wife. I like all of them better than I like Dal so that makes him 17th on the list to get clues from me. The fact that none of them have found the treasure should speak for itself." ~FF SB 78 dalneitzel.com/2014/06/25/scrapbook-seventy-eight/

From the archived MW Questions: mysteriouswritings.com/questions-with-forrest-fenn-and-the-thrill-of-the-chase/questions-with-fenn-archive-1/Posted in June 2014: “Forrest, You talk about how you worked on, and changed, the poem for many years. As you read it today, are you still completely content with the belief that someone will eventually understand and follow your poem precisely to the treasure?” ~ John
Thanks John, I think your question is wrought from misinformation. I have no real feelings about when the treasure might or might not be found. But eventually sounds too far away. The treasure is there for the person who can find it and I think that person will be positive in their attitude and deliberate in their actions. No one has any secret information that will take them to the hiding place. It’s in the poem for all to see.f

And just to clarify, if needed: I absolutely trust FF to be fair about the game. I just needed some quotes on it, because I was asked to substantiate my opinion on this with quotes

Found something else. In June of 2014, apparently some folks were grumbling that Dal Neitzel had inside information. They wanted him to recuse himself from the search. Forrest responded, "I was just informed that Dal has recused himself from the search for reasons I think are inappropriate. It is unfair to cast a shadow across a man of his integrity. And since there are other searchers who have fallen in that same line of thinking I believe I have a solution. If a majority of people think Dal should stop his search for the treasure because he is getting inside information from me, then I will recuse myself from further posts on his blog, thus removing the reason for him to stop searching. If you have a comment one way or the other please post it here."

I don't think he intends to help privately but I've heard he told some to stop looking at places. that is help.

I don't think he intends to help privately but I've heard he told some to stop looking at places. that is help. Forrest disabused Cynthia of the notion that a CCC cabin could be the home of Brown, invoking the "no structures" comment. So it certainly "helped" her -- and us -- by further explaining, via this example, what he meant by "the treasure is not associated with any structure."

PS: I recently found a solution to the poem that would be brilliant, if it was correct. I am tempted to share it with you… do you give feedback on hunters’ ideas? But perhaps it is better to just wait until i can go to the spot myself and see if the solution actually leads to the chest. Forrest responds- I agree that you are in an ideal location from which to search for the treasure. I have received 4,526 emails, many of them similar to yours. It is not feasible for me to give feedback and be fair to everyone. There is lots of feedback on my web site if you want to follow what other people are doing. I am glad you are in the chase with your friends. I will give you an important clue, no need to look for the treasure in a place where a 79 or 80 year old man couldn’t go with a 44 pound treasure chest full of gold and precious gems. Good luck. f dalneitzel.com/2012/10/02/forrest-gets-mail/

Is the chest 42 or 44 pounds?
and, are the dimensions 10x10x5 or x6?
have heard both versions of both versions mentioned.

The chest is 10"x10"x6" (approximately). All of the mentions of 5" refer to the *depth* of the chest -- i.e. the interior dimension.

Thank you Zap, I am an admirer of your postings on the various forums. Thanks, Grapette! And you may be able to shorten your name to Grapette79 since we know he wasn't 80 when he hid the chest. ;-)
