It would be interesting to note the changes from various articles Forrest wrote before the Chase, and then later included in the book or scrapbooks.
Are there reasons for the changes? Maybe not all, but possibly some.....

What does indecision is the key to flexibility mean and how does that relate to Forrest waiting so long to secret his cache? I don't know what this means...

For those who might not see it on that thread (but might be interested), I just shared this observation: The provenance probably doesn't matter, but the stories searchers tend to associate with the Bozeman Daily Chronicle first appeared in print in the West Yellowstone News. The Chronicle picked them up later (and still hosts them online, obviously). (But for those who argue that TTOTC was just a little book written only for Forrest's family and friends in Santa Fe, because "obviously" he hid the chest in northern New Mexico, it might be worth thinking about why Forrest published these stories in West Yellowstone in 2008, about fifteen years after he decided to hide a treasure chest, about thirteen or fourteen years after he started writing the poem, about a year and a half before he went ahead and hid the chest, and about two years before he decided to write that little book.)

You make a very good point. I will say that I know a few people who have written memoirs and it is a very cathartic experience. It dredges up all kinds of memories and in doing so may impel a person to give thanks to the people/places that molded their lives. This may have been Forrest's thank you to that time and place. So says team New Mexico and no I have no bias whatsoever I just really want to prove the naysayers wrong.

I found this this morning by a columnist written in 2011. Notice, "Indecision is the key to flexibility". Here he suggests it means that this is a sign you are suffering from low self-esteem. www.areawidenews.com/blogs/1215/entry/39557And here in 2020 he wrote about Forrest Fenn's Treasure: www.areawidenews.com/blogs/1215/entry/74407
