How was K1 of Kryptos Solved?

The cipher used was a Quagmire III, a form of Vigenere Cipher. It used two Keywords. Kryptos and Palimpsest.

The message discovered was:

BETWEEN SUBTLE SHADING AND THE ABSENCE OF LIGHT LIES THE NUANCE OF IQLUSION

(intentional misspelling of ILLUSION)

On the misspelled word of IQlusion: Sanborn has said that it isn’t so much the letter, which is the K, but the position that is important. (Should have been a M to give the correct L)

The position is Line 2, Letter 25 (or letter 57 of the entire phrase). (K2 has a misspelled word too)
