forrest has said- there isn’t a human trail in very close proximaty to where he hid the treasure source: mysteriouswritings.com/the-thrill-of-the-chase/very close is used- is there one close then. also- what is very near the treasure if not a human trail? a creek, heavy loads, water high

I feel you might walk along a creek during your Quest.......and use that as your guide (your creek) to the treasure. So yes, I would say a creek, and then the 'heavy loads' and 'water high' are near as well....since they help pinpoint the location too.
Since Forrest recently said it isn't where a person would normally go, it can't be on a trail....but before he said that I thought we might have been on a trail in the beginning, now, I'm not thinking so.....
It's possible at the no place for the meek, a trail goes one way, but you would follow the creek....

There’ isn’t a human trail in very close proximity
The word proximity means close or near to, and the addition of the word close is simply repetitive.
So does that mean a trail is there but not close close
Or if not a human trail what kind of “A Trail”

I don't think people 200 ft were on a trail. I think it was people 500 ft.

I think that's the right thinking. Forrest is always tricking people, and two sounds closer than five so it must be backwards. Maybe if this year's searches don't work, I'll try to do everything Forrest says don't and see what happens?

people got within 500 feet with the first two clues solved. then people got 200 feet with four clues solved. the 200 feet people have gone off trail. why they didn't find it is important. the 500 feet and two clue people walked past the other seven. what did the 200 feet people do that had them miss the chest?

Hi Thrillchaser: people had gotten within 200 feet of the treasure at a time when Forrest said only two clues had been solved, not four. In fact, he's never said definitively that four clues have been solved by anyone. The only mention of four clues was this one:
Forrest Gets Mail #9 (11/2/2015) on Dal’s site: "Are there signs that people are getting closer to solving your puzzle? How many clues have people solved now?"
FF: "Searchers have come within about 200 feet. Some may have solved the first four clues, but I am not certain."
Of course, it's been more than 4 years since Forrest made this comment, and I'm sure most believe that at least four clues have been solved by now, and that Forrest is simply not willing to confirm it.

[/div]
I don't see any evidence for that statement, on that basis I don't believe it or disbelieve it - it's unproven. It is possible to solve the first two clues and then apparently leave the chase, and I see no evidence as time goes on that people get better at deciphering the poem, quite the opposite in fact.

While I agree there is no evidence -- even today -- that even 3 or more clues have been solved, I think there is a lot of circumstantial evidence that nearly all of the clues have been solved. You'll note that Forrest has been mute on searcher clue-solving progress since 2015. That included his most recent comment on the subject (at least of which I'm aware) in Six Questions 2018 (Q2):
"For most, the physical search season is at a halt until the warm waters of Spring begin to flow once again. It’s currently a quiet time which offers opportunity for reflection upon past ideas, solves, failures, and thrills. Previously, you had mentioned a few searchers solved the first two clues, but weren’t necessarily knowledgeable of the fact. Are you aware of any more progress made past the first two clues? Have searchers homed into other clues or words in the poem? Have searchers been closer than 200 feet to the treasure?"
FF: "I am rarely told exactly where people are searching so I don’t know if they are getting closer or not. My gut feeling is that someone will find it this summer."
So no mention of clues solved ... and yet, he had a gut feeling (since disproved) that someone would find it two summers ago. So something made him think that the treasure could possibly be found imminently -- a prognostication he had never made previously. Since two clues had been solved at least as early as 6 1/2 years ago (and he made no predictions about imminent recovery), it certainly seems like something significant had changed by February 2018. Summarizing the timeline:
2013: two clues solved; no announcement of possible imminent recovery 2015: *maybe* four clues solved, but still no mention of near-term possibilities of finding it Feb. 2018: still no update on # of clues solved, but a gut feeling that it will be found in Summer 2018 Fall 2019: barrage of dozens of Scrapbooks, some with wording or themes that might suggest the Chase is nearly over
and finally:
Jan 2020: Q: "Since it’s 2020, it seems like an appropriate question to ask would be 'what vision do you have for the next 10 years? 100 years? 1000 years? for the Chase?'"
FF: "My vision tells me that it is only a matter of time until someone finds the treasure."
Is Forrest being coy? A play on 20/20 vision?
Personally, I think the whole thing is solved. And as statistically unlikely as it might seem (based on 9 1/2 years of collective failure by hundreds of thousands of people): possibly already solved now by multiple parties.

[/div]
They must have solved it over the winter then, as no-one has come forward with the chest (leaving aside Forrest's old assertion he knows it's still there). Care to place a small wager it's not recovered in 2020?

Hi Potato-Dave: I have to recuse myself from such a wager on the slim chance that I'm one of those solvers (in which case, you won't know I was the one). For me, it wouldn't be a winter solution, but rather late September. My fall and winter have been spent trying to shoot holes in it, while simultaneously gathering more evidence that it's correct. Those efforts will continue for at least the next couple months, though at this point the only thing that will prevent me from my next BOTG trip is an announcement that it was found by someone else.

I agree with potato man. there isn't any evidence for that. I think if that is true the chest would be found. but I get what you are saying about the 2 clues and 200 feet. those might have gotten within 200 feet more by walking in the area because they had solved 2 clues not because they had solved home of brown.

If my solution turns out to be correct (big IF), I could divulge home of Brown and it would still take searchers more than a year to solve the rest, and I suspect many would still never do so.
