One odd thing about image 1 is that both initials and signature of JJP exists in the painting. Initials at 5 o'clock position of the clock. This, similar to Boston Globe in image 11 may be a mini rebus. Clock... time... chron + 5 or nickel + SF in the vine = SF Chronicle

I like the "SF" that you found.
I have always thought of the timepiece as a pocket watch but in this picture it looks like an alarm clock.

I've never seen an old alarm clock with one bell at the top. They usually have two bells with the hammer in the middle.

If there's another clue in the time piece it may be the Greenwich pocket watch. Note that Greenwich starts with G and ends with h.

interesting about the Greenwich pocket watch.
A pocket watch supports my solve the most but after searching google images for a single bell alarm clock (and seeing the legs on the clock) I have to go with alarm clock. There are some close matches in google images.

My theory is that the clock is pointing to 6 referencing the month of June. One of the flowers associated with June is a rose which is on the table, and a gem associated with June is pearl which is her necklace.
