Question- Do you think kids will find the treasure?
Answer by Forrest-Yeah, I think kids may have an advantage. Don’t expect me to explain that, but sure. Their eyes are better. They’re more agile. They have more energy. Why should a kid take a back seat in the treasure hunt?
Fact: Kids may have an advantage.
Forrest went alone in there.
Possible Meaning:
This could hint it is tight quarters getting to the location.
And kids ‘eyes are better’ could hint the chest is camouflaged.

Any 'tight place'.....would be a place people wouldn't normally go....
It is funny that he mentions kids might have advantage, but immediately says he won't explain why.
Most feel kids have an advantage because of their 'imaginations' or 'openness', but I'm not sure that is what Forrest was thinking. It could be their size, and as you mentioned, he did say their eyes. What made him think of that first off? lol....

20/20...vision... maybe seeing patterns or spotting visual hints in TTOTC for example.

Kids have an advantage in the field. They have a tremendous disadvantage trying to solve the clues at home.

All,
Children may have an advantage because their minds are not yet filled with the biases that life experiences unfortunately occupy.

Kids are more likely to suffer from dyslexia and can read all the anagrams.

Billy the Kid reference by edgewalker may be hitting on something. I wonder if ff is really referring to a young goat instead of a child. Does anyone know exactly which word ff used? Kid or Child

“Billy the kid” was Forrest’s childhood goat that hung out with his horse.

It's really funny because he says he won't explain why, then appears to go on to explain! Our assumptions are really interesting and worth reviewing constantly. In reading Forrest's comments about eyesight, I immediately assumed it was because the treasure is in a dark place, rather than camouflaged.

Because children haven't the long term developed and set thinking patterns adults do. They can see and learn new patterns more quickly. You need to understand the relationships in the poem from a child's perpective.. If your solution is complex, it is wrong.

Sean and Flyjack's comments bring to mind the backwards bicycle - maybe kids find it easier to think differently as they're not stuck in their ways yet.
