The following was posting on MW's The Treasure Hunt Facebook Group by the creator:
TREASURE LOST?
SAD NEWS the tone in the tree main treasure may have been lost/taken without notification. The chests location was indeed confirmed today by the same team that found they key! However the chest was reported to be missing from the location! This is dad news because the chest was checked on bust a week ago and was safe. I am off work for a bit tomorrow and will try to verify this for myself. However, they were inside the correct spot and it is almost impossible to miss the chest from where they went. I will keep you all updated! |

I’m really sorry to hear this. For the treasure hiding party and the party that was so close to finding it. That was a very enjoyable hunt none the less and you all did a great job on setting it up. Hopefully there are more in the future like this one.

Any chance someone from this forum found it and just isn't fessing up? You really don't need the key if you break it open...
Nick, was there anything inside that said, "This is from a treasure hunt" with contact info? Or was it just filled with the treasure so that someone finding it randomly would never know what it was from?

Or was it just filled with the treasure so that someone finding it randomly would never know what it was from? The chest was deeply engraved in the bottom and the inside under the lid. Full instruction on what it was for as well as my contact info if it was just too tempting. To let me know they were taking it. Never got a call lol. I know a few people have propositioned local ships to take them off the coast of cooksey to dive for it. Not sure if anyone took them up on it. |
