While on Safety, there are a few quotes that might offer a slight peek at what the 'area' is like. This quote is interesting....
I hid the treasure in a place that is not especially difficult to reach.
Forrest didn't just say- he hid it in a place that is not difficult to reach... he said 'not especially'...suggesting there is 'something' that doesn't make it just 'not difficult'...
This gets back to those physical things for where a person wouldn't normally go...is it...
Across a stream? Through a patch of briers? etc?

If you attach "up your creek" and "The treasure is not at the top of a mountain, but may be close to the top" to the above idea, you might have an area that is no place for the meek.

Things can complicate the search- earthquakes, mudslides, forest fires, floods, trees, falling rocks. There are those who have been at risk in water when they attempted to search some place where it was not really safe to go. Some have not been prepared to face the elements after they parked their and started walking. Some have lacked proper clothing, food, and water. margiegoldsmith.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/The-Thrill-of-the-Chase1.pdf
