I was reading up on another treasure hunt called Masquerade on Jenny’s site today. As Jenny explains there were clues in that book which hinted on HOW TO FIND the Riddle and one of the main clues was a line on the opening page, “To solve the hidden riddle, you must use your eyes, and find the hare in every picture that may point you to the prize.” I wonder if Forrest could have followed a similar technique for example dropping hint words in the dust jacket, preface or lead up paragraph to the poem in TTOTC that will instruct us on how to decipher the poem. There must be a hint somewhere otherwise we are all just wandering blind. Here are a few examples that stick out to me: “unlock” the clues (are we looking for something in the book you can unlock - a door etc.) “cache” (he used this word in both the dust jacket and lead up paragraph to poem - cache - cash. I'm thinking bank, banco? Cache could also be the hiding place to store the chest). if he were “younger” he’d go back and get it himself (this was always odd to me since it’s ok to go where an 80 year old man could go) a “six-pack” (that’s a strange thing for a non-drinker to say. One definition of six pack is the arrangement of six basic flight instruments in an aircraft.) Any thoughts? mysteriouswritings.com/the-masquerade-armchair-treasure-hunt-and-solution/

I certainly found hints in the dust jacket, if that's any consolation -- to include the six-pack comment that you were rightly drawn to IMO. (Btw, Forrest is most certainly a drinker, though perhaps only irregularly. From his writings, over the years he has mentioned having had beer, wine, brandy, and a yearly martini.)

Six pack...someone like myself with zero flying skills might call these dials. Dial... like the alleged hint to Stephanie (forget the beginning part of what Forrest said and just use “dial it will give a hint”). Things relating to dials... phone, clock, sun. Combination locks have dials. "unlock" the clues...Still thinking.....

A pack is a group- like a pack of wolves. Remember way back when Walmart was mentioned? The symbol is a basically an asterisk with 6 lines coming out of the center. A six pack.

I think it is possible that the following line on the Dust Jacket hints to 'what' 'Heavy Loads' is in the poem...... the contents of the chest.....
'.... and you can go home with a bronze chest that is so full of gold and precious jewelry that it's almost too HEAVY for one person to carry.'
What's up your creek? The chest, which MIGHT be Heavy Loads.....
