I’m confused with this thinking. IMO, FF doesn’t owe anyone anything. The only unacceptable deceit to me would be if there was no treasure. Outside of that it’s all fair game to me. It’s his treasure, his game. He makes the rules. If we don’t wanna play, we don’t have to. It’s our choice. I don’t expect perfection from FF. He is not a god. He is an imperfect human being. Think of all the comments he has made over the years on this treasure. He is now 90 years old. Even at 80, I know many that age that make confusing statements. He has told us all we need is the poem and a good map, with maybe some help from TTOTC. So, contradictory statements or not, I choose to play. I hear what you're saying and don't disagree. But somewhere there is a line between playing the game and being played with.

Sometimes a little space helps. I second this statement. We are dealing with a riddle and mysterious ingeniously composed poem of megalithic proportions. The point is for us to figure out, these forums help us help eachother, not to complain to the teacher that our homework is to difficult.

I don't understand these condescending posts as I did not start this thread and have only made a couple legitimate contributions. But if you want to get into it: Helping each other does not always mean complimenting and agreeing with each other. It can be just as helpful to have someone say - "you know, Forrest was being tongue-in-cheek with that answer. If you take it literally, it can be misleading". And yes, Forrest can do whatever he wants. But wouldn't it be nice to focus on the poem rather than every single syllable he has uttered in the last 10 years?

3Q) In your memoir, The Thrill of the Chase, after the poem, you mention there are subtle clues sprinkled throughout that book. You have said you hadn’t deliberately placed these subtle hints in your book; but have you done so in any of your other writings mentioned in Question two (scrapbooks, vignettes, etc)? Or, even if maybe not purposely sprinkled in those writings of Q2, would you consider some of those to contain subtle hints too, like in The Thrill of the Chase? I don’t want to broaden the clues and hints I’ve written about by pointing them out. What surprises me a little is that nobody to my uncertain knowledge has analyzed one important possibility related to the winning solve. mysteriouswritings.com/six-questions-yet-again-with-forrest-fenn-always-a-treasure/

What you call condescending- consider it gently moderating the comments away from negativity towards forrest. I encourage you and others to indeed focus on the poem.

Dalby2020: It seems like you are angry at an 80+ year old man because he has started a treasure hunt and you (together with 300,000 other people) cannot figure out. Does that mean that a) He made it too difficult for anyone to figure out? b) It is super difficult, but together we can increase the chances of figuring it out, or c) Fenn is deceitful? I think if your stance is c), that is a perfectly fine stance to have, but perhaps you should consider seriously to retire from the hunt. This forum is one of the most collegial and fair forums and we prefer factual and positive, uplifting behaviour! I am sure you are a beautiful person, but not everyone are meant to play together. Cheers, Grapette.

I'm still not understanding these comments directed to me. I did not start the thread. I did not call Forrest deceitful. I contributed to the topic with comments that he says things that mislead and, at least at times, is playing with searchers. Does that mean I am angry with him? No! And I don't know where people have gotten that impression. Does that mean I'm complaining that the game is unfair? No! Like I agreed with a previous comment, he can do whatever he wants. So I'm not seeing evidence of this so-called congeniality with these recent comments. I contributed to a thread and people suggest I leave. I think that is uncalled for.

I agree dalby 2020, these comments were wrongfully directed at you. We all have opinions and people need to stop being so sensitive. I think the trigger for some is when words like 'deceit' and 'misleading' are used. Maybe a better word to describe Forrest would be cryptic. This is a puzzle to be solved after all and nobody can deny that Forrest is purposefully and intentionally mysterious in his answers. Is that being intentionally misleading? Well it may feel that way at times but his intentions are good. I think he tries to steer people to think differently rather than steer them away from a correct interpretation and that is the difference. I have watched and listened to enough interviews to be able to say that Forrest absolutely plays with people and clearly enjoys doing so. He is an entertainer and often times it does feel like he is the puppeteer and we are the puppets.
