One more term which I have recently become familiar with on The Golden Owl hunt is called the fausse piste which in English means the false trail. The creator of that hunt dubbed it the autoroute which means highway. I've been down lots of highways on the Forrest Fenn hunt! I'm not sure if Forrest employed false trails or not because of his statements regarding no subterfuge but I keep an open mind because it seems most treasure hunts/mysteries include them.
...oh so many rabbit holes and loved every one of them ... connections to The Wizard of Oz, The Codex, A Christmas Story, Alfred Hitchcock, the pee/poo solve, Eric Sloane's home that was for sale recently (my personal favorite), poker and how could I forget prison (many jail related terms in this hunt).

All roads lead to Rome! Lol Maybe after it is found, we will be able to see all of the highways, rabbits holes, etc. and their interconnectedness.

As the 1st line in poem has “one one” ... is this a tease, a hint, or coincidence.? If it is true that the poem contains no red herrings then is it also true that forrests many other comments and interviews contain no red herrings? Need to think about that |

When I smile, or even laugh, my mouth stays closed, unlike some people who show all of their uppers and lowers when they grin.
The smile of Fenn = the limes(anagram) of Fenn = the footpath(L.) of Fenn = the vie(F.)* of Fenn = the life of Fenn
*vie = footpath in salt marshes
Also:
The smile of Fenn = der(G.) grin(synonym) fo(anagram) fen( homophone) = red grin he(W.)morfa(W.) = red hering(anagram) forma(anagram) = red herring(G.) form(L.) = red herring a(L.) = a red (anagram) herring
From the above, it may be concluded that the Life of Fenn is a red herring.
Is this the secret that lies behind the smile of the Sphinx(Fenn)?
