I imagine any kind of dream involving that style of piracy would be intense enough to jar anyone awake. I've only woke up that way during dreams where I'm falling. Or sinking, however you want to look at it.

The next page is the start of the jar (and bell) chapter. . thats a connection. also, the end of the book is about going forward, past the present life. Question: does being reincarnated as a figure from the past make sense? Is it common to phrase reincarnation this way? Is Forrest purposely mixing tenses?

Sean, I have the same overhanging question about why didn’t he want to give “buried” as a clue. He has made comments about the vagueness of the word “buried” , so maybe that’s the explanation or maybe not. it Jenny, whats curious to me is why Forrest wrote that the dream scared him. Maybe it is 'no place for the meek' connection?
