How does people know that it's not it, are they getting replies that tell them that their answer is wrong? Typically how long does it take to get an answer back after you've submitted a solution?

He does not respond to any incorrect submissions. We know they are wrong because he didn't post a winner for the next month.

It's not the SALLY benchmark in the Fletcher quadrangle, at the west boundary of Sterling, OK. Here was my submission. www.ngs.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/ds_mark.prl?PidBox=EM058334°45'01.49719"N 98°10'37.41265"W From the riddle and clues, the following is what I interpret: Clue, December 2017 – The Fifth. My interpretation: I believe this is "V", the flight formation of geese, but it is also a reference to the north/south intersection where the benchmark is placed, 5th Avenue. Clue, November 2017 - The book's main character, Nelson Ware, has said, "Every word is important in my writing." My interpretation: I believe "main" and "Ware" are the keywords. Main Street is the east/west intersection where the benchmark is placed. Ware serves as the hint for "ware goose". Clue, March 2019 – Focus on the word “realized.” There is one definition that can change how you look at the riddle in a BIG way. My interpretation: I believe "realized turkey" would be "Turkish language". Clue, March 2020 – A massive endeavor points to your case of bourbon. My interpretation: I believe this suggests the Turkish Lira currency ISO code, TRY. Clue, April 2020 – Bourbon is for celebrating the riddle, not finding the solution. My interpretation: This is another hint to focus on turkeys instead of booze. Clue, May 2020 - I fly [What flies?] … like a realized [What does that mean?] … Bourbon Red [What is that?] … with a pointy head and feathers on my butt. [Everyone gets that.] … Where am I? [Well?]. My interpretation: A goose (or a military air force sortie, also called a "sally"), and the Turkish word for arrow, "ok", therefore, the answer is in Oklahoma. Clue, June 2020 – The Bourbon Red is the Rudolph of the bird family. “With the sleigh full of toys…” My interpretation: I believe this to be an allusion to The Cutty Wren, where John the Red Nose is giving all of the "answers". This can also be derived from French "renne", Catalan "ren", both of which mean "reindeer" or "caribou". And of course a sally is a wren. Therefore, if a goose is an anser, and a sally is a witty reply and a wren, I interpret SALLY the benchmark in Sterling, OK, at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Main Street, found at the official coordinates given from within the above referenced link. --- Lots of confirmation bias, apparently. I also used the name Nelson as a derivative of Nicholas, and submitted SANTA benchmark in OK. This was also declined.

It’s not the flag or flagpole located on the outside of the rotunda of the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles, (located directly behind an American Eagle resting on a sphere), which is adjacent to the Science Center bay where the Space Shuttle Endeavor is housed. It’s also not the flagpole’s finial, the sphere itself, or just the eagle. (Previous guesses.)

You are the official super bowl VI coin (Pointy Head Patriots, Feather Falcons) after the coin toss you are on a 4"x4" plot of land on the 50 yard line in NRG Stadium, Houston Texas. Realized=Bought (money) There were two coin tosses that day, one at the start of the game and one for overtime. NE won, despite never having led the entire game.
not it.....

Solution - 1996 site of centennial park bombing in Atlanta Georgia
N 33.76065 W 84.39258
Realized is the fifth word representing the five Olympic rings and the five Quilts in the park:
Nations, Olympic Spirit, Origins, Remembrance and Dreams
The Bourbon Red is a Shuttlecock which was first played in the Atlanta Olympics of 1996 Your hints helped. Especially the Rudolph clue... the confessed bomber. Massive Endeavor (Shuttle) and Atlanta-Los Angeles (Olympic Venues)
nope nope nope....

I have a few others... but imo they are a little bit closer to the actual solution. Not going to post those solves, just in case.

Could the 4 x 4 inch spot be round? . Thats one of the reasons I was focusing on survey markers - size and precision. I havent seen any more clues for a while, so became inactive.

Anyone sent in a solution lately? I got away from this one for a while (read: a year!) and wanted to know if we had any more "Where it's not" solutions before I submitted another wrong one.

Anyone sent in a solution lately? I got away from this one for a while (read: a year!) and wanted to know if we had any more "Where it's not" solutions before I submitted another wrong one. Not recently. Keep thinking it should be solvable from the first clue alone. This statement has my attention ” It leads to an actual plot of land somewhere in the United States that is four inches by four inches. It is very small. But very precise” “actual plot of land” ... can that include cement runways, survey markers, or other ideas we discussed? This is next to picture of Pete and a frog statue. Only Petes upper body is showing with a BLUE shirt, the statue is WHITE, and the clue has RED. Are you a familiar poster with a new alias?

I've been on the MW proboards for a few years now but I rarely have any helpful information to add so I don't post much. Mostly check in every once in a while to see if my ideas have already been thought of (usually they have because y'all are a lot smarter than me!).

I submitted a specific survey marker as a solution in September. No response (yet). It would have been clever if it had been correct, I’ll update this post with its name next week....I guess I’m still holding onto a very faint hope that it could be correct.
EDIT: My solution was the Hobart survey marker in Frazee, which the “World’s Largest Turkey“ is facing. Nope. 👎

I submitted a guess that involves a brick. I didn't find it until October 3rd though so I'll have to wait a month to see if it's right.
