After 3 years of finally figuring this thing out, 8 months of waiting to go BOTG, I missed being the finder by a matter of hours. I don't know how I'm ever going to get past this, but here it is:
It was at Glacier Gorge inside Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado.
You're finding the end of Forrests rainbow first and the treasures location at the end. (See attachments)
#1 (BIWWWH) Begin it at "Sky" pond + Lake of "Glass" in Colorado.
#2 (ATIITCD) Continue down Loch Vale (as in Vail meaning down)
#3 (NFBTFTW) Go past The Loch, as in something that is locked is not far, but too far to walk past.
#4 (PIBTHOB) Shift your focus to the streams below Thatchtop Mountain. (Thatch is roofing material)
#5 (TEIEDN) From that spot there are two ending points, the rainbow and the treasure. Both the Omegas (also symbolizing two ends) are drawn as trails near Alberta Falls. The axe man drawing at the end of TTOTC, as well as the treasures location is "drawing" to the left of your position. (See #8)
#6 (JHLAWH) Go upstream past Mills lake (Water mill - water high, and flour mill - heavy loads) and Jewels lake (heavy loads needed to form jewels in the earth)
#7 (IYBWAFTB) "The Dove" is the blaze and at the end of the rainbow, and the book. (Rainbow ends at Green lake, Black Lake, Blue Lake)
#8 (LQDYQTC) Look down at the axe mans feet in the book. Axe marks the spot. The tree stump aligns with the intersections beneath West Knob and East Knob. The Winter Route is the quickest way down. A map or satellite image is also the quickest way to look down from above. (See attachments)
#9 (BTSWMG) Don't just stare at the computer screen. Use the line of sight between the man and the dove as a guideline to go and find the chest where it forms an X along the winter trail. (See attachment)
(Your effort will be worth the cold, and Frosty, is in reference to the Winter Trail which is inactive during the summer. The snow would have buried his body and the chest during the winter when it is used. On Frostys day off, Forrest hid the chest when nobody was taking that off-trail route)
I had planned to keep part of the treasure hidden to continue the chase for the community, but it looks like it's really done and over.
I know it's a long shot, but if the finder sees this and would ever consider sharing in even a small part of the find, my family and I would be eternally grateful to them for their kindness. My contact email is below if they'd like to reach out to chat.
And congratulations to the finder of the gold on getting to have the experience of a lifetime, I guess it really was toe to toe.....time to find myself a therapist.
