Kicking this off if anyone else is working this puzzle. I'm new to the boards but figure a spoiler tag is helpful when giving away hints if people don't want to see them outright. I believe I've found a church from the poem and confirmed in the illustration through some specific imagery like the gold stars on the ceiling of the archway.
There is also a reference to a specific country, not sure why yet.
And I believe several clues to a specific holiday based on the wreaths.

I think I’ve solved this but my solution is different to what is being talked about. Are you in Banbury still and near the church? (i've been able to find near perfect solutions in different towns for a few puzzles which makes this even harder)

My solution is a church in Banbury, is this correct? (Without giving the solution away)

My solution is a church in Banbury, is this correct? (Without giving the solution away) I think most the puzzles are looking for something more specific than a building

Hey All, Just picked up the book a few days ago and am starting at the first puzzle. I didnt see a lot of info in here so not sure how much is ok to share but I thought I would put in my 2 cents on the first one anyway.
1. the illustration just made sense to be of some veterans memorial, so googled memorials in the area. I actually googled Birmingham in Banbury by accident. 2. this led me to the Hall of Memory. if you go through their online gallery you can see a number of red poppy wreaths.
so where to look....well I am from the US so cant go and look around myself, nor am I sure what I am looking for. Anyone else find that as a place to look?
one thing theory I have after seeing the keys of the cross is the illustration had a bird which represented a birds eye view. So I am thinking that the pictures with a bird mean a birds eye view, the ones with flying insects mean eye-level or up and the one with creatures that are usually on the ground that the item you are looking for is on the ground No idea if that holds water but its a theory.
Well I will get back to it, have fun all and hope to chat with some of you.
Cheers, Bob

I think you are on the right track with the soldiers and wreaths. But I think some of the clues keep you in Banbury. Birmingham might be too far outside the area though it does appear it might be considered Warwickshire. That is my view anyways

Thanks for the tips. I will look more around Banbury. I wasnt sure how far out this spread and I am not familiar with how areas are designated in the UK. In the US we have states, and within each state there are a lot of counties. With google earth you just dont quite get the scale of things.
I will narrow my searches to the Banbury area.
I am guessing I just got lucky with the wreaths at the hall of memory as they are wreathes of poppies, which is the the symbol for veterans all around he world.
Any veterans memorials in the Banbury area?

I think I pretty much have this one solved, I'm 100% on my location but only 99% right with the object. I might be totally off but it all makes sense to me!

So, the answers to each of the clues will be something that is at the location of wherever we end up? like for example something at the memorial, will be a clue? How can one tell which is the correct object to record?

So, the answers to each of the clues will be something that is at the location of wherever we end up? like for example something at the memorial, will be a clue? How can one tell which is the correct object to record? Look at the thread on the #23 poem & illustration. It gives some very solid hints on how to go about finding that one, and it's a good representation of how the clues in general work. Once you find the correct object, nearly everything in the poem/illustration will suddenly fall into place.
