Forrest used the Periodic table of elements as part of the puzzle. He said he was 79 or 80 when he hid the chest., I believe he hid the chest when he was 79 because it is the atomic number for Gold. 80 relates to Mercury and its common name is 'Quicksilver', Mercury is often used to extract Gold. So find Silver to extract the Gold.
The number 9 was important to the puzzle. 'I' is the ninth letter of the alphabet. Substitute the five single capital I's in the poems verses 1, 5 and 6 and read them this way: "As 9 have gone alone in there 9 can keep my secret where So why is it that 9 must go The answers 9 already know 9 give you title to the Gold.
The word 'TREASURES' is the only nine letter word in the poem. The 9 letters go into a circle divided into 40 degree segments with each letter alone in its own segment. Geometry drawing on the map was needed.
The puzzle led me to a circular blaze, it was clue 9. "Look quickly down your quest to cease" related to 'Quicksilver' or 80 Mercury. Forrest once said "if you have a search partner best to have them wait in the car" this cannot possibly relate to the chest but something that you could extract quickly on your own. I believe SILVER was in the circle, i.e. the bracelet. The title to the gold.

I love it! bringing the periodic table into the poem and it is a decent fit, well done. This whole the treasure is found thing has me back in the game wanting to solve before a location is announced (assuming it is).

And the first word in the poem...AS. the periodic table symbol for arsenic. Atomic number 33.

This whole the treasure is found thing has me back in the game wanting to solve before a location is announced (assuming it is). And the first word in the poem...AS. the periodic table symbol for arsenic. Atomic number 33. Forrest played with letters to numbers in this puzzle, the circle I found contained water early in the year, it contained a lot of trash, but by late September it was dry and the trash had settled. 'IMPORTANT LITERATURE' has the mention of throwing 'Catcher in the Rye' in the trash where it landed right on top of a 'TIME Magazine' however he later retrieved 'Catcher in the Rye' but 'TIME' remained in there. 'TIME' adds up to 47 by using each of its letters positions in the alphabet, and 47 is the atomic number for Silver. I believe that Forrest's silver bracelet was buried in the trash in the circle. BRACELET adds up to 66 which is 'ff' My strong belief is that the poem was geared around locating the bracelet and not the chest, purely because it would be very difficult to take you to a precise tree in a forest in the poem. It only takes you to the circle. The circle was the 9th clue and I strongly believe the 10th or 'X' clue to the chest was located with whatever was buried in the circle, this would have given you the clue which would take you to a specific tree in the pine forest nearby, and ultimately to where the chest was. This seems sound logic to me. IMO of course. indigo.
