I'm no lawyer, but if that's all that Forrest had to say to respond to the allegations I'd guess that there isn't much substance to the complaint.

Good grief.
Incidentally, the 'Erskine site' seems to be the one I mentioned in a flippant post about how easy it is to bang together a bad solution that fits Forrest's statements.
Maybe I'll sue Erskine for stealing my crappy solve...

Reading the document “Silver Star, Bronze Star, Fourteen Air Metals”?
I think they mean medals instead of metals. Or is. ‘Metal’ a kind of award?

There is so much in this deposition that completely shuts down the sour-grapes-searchers who have been suggesting Forrest never hid the treasure, or failing that, that he retrieved it himself, or failing that, that he sent someone else to do so. Shame on all of you.

All,
Even after the recovery, it is entertaining to see so many jumping to conclusions based upon their interpretation of Forrest's words. Many seem to be pre-occupiped with attempting to prove others wrong. Very petty. Says more about those individuals than it does about those they are attempting to prove wrong.

Sacha had a goodbye post somewhere and said (paraphrase) she has come to the conclusion that 90% of the folks on the forums and comments pages never went BOTG and never planned to go. It is all just an armchair internet based game for them. And so that kind of game can easily continue on regardless of the Find, and they can keep on bickering and playing until the Finder finally publishes the solve, and probably even after that if bickering and attacking each other is what makes it fun for them. i.e. it's not real to them. Just a word game.
This affidavit was filed in federal court under penalty of perjury so it should be 100% true and accurate. So does that mean the cancer diagnosis was really in the 1990's and not the 1980's ?

I suspect 1998 was just a typo of 1988.

Shame on all of you. True to that Zap, but it actually adds veracity to my theory that this person "stole" the solution from someone close (through discussions) and went behind their back to go get it. "I also confirmed that he USED the clues in the poem...". He used them...he didn't solve them. Forrest's mention of "USED" shows the possibility that Forrest is uncertain if that person actually solved it.

That's true IW, and ive wondered if I knew the location could I solve the clues correctly in reverse and explain them correctly to Fenn.

You should now ask if you are from "back east", because if my theory is correct, the person he "stole" all of this from lives "back east."

Nevermind.... I just saw a letter and some other documents written by his lawyer that were linked on another site and they were riddled with typos and mis-spellings and inaccuracies, so it looks like the lawyer or his staff probably screwed that one up - just guessing of course.

Forrest needs some better lawyers. The typos and even the content of filing relative to what is presented by the other side seems rather embarrassing. Erskine doesn't have much of a case, but that doesn't mean Forrest can't lose or get put in an uncomfortable position.
